This is why the SEC taking Texas and Oklahoma is a godsend for those two programs. The Big 12 (and Texas sucking hind teat) had made one of the biggest rivalry games in college football an afterthought.

But with future SEC membership on the horizon this suddenly has some sizzle to it again. Not having to drag the dead carcass of the Big 12 behind them is a gift from Heaven for both schools.

IMO they planned on being at A&M and Bama..
then the Aggies shite the bed and so they moved it to a location close to that..

But I could be totally wrong..

Lol.. Don’t be a fool.

The sizzle has been “down” because one of the burners (Texas) was off.. when both teams are good, there is plenty of sizzle.

The SEC helps for recruiting and better home games and a lot of other things..

The Texas OU game is not one of those things..

I would give you the same advice. Its the future story of an SEC membership that moved the needle on this game. Both teams have had good records in the past years going into the game (usually with Texas swooning down the home stretch) and drawn a yawn.

Y'all needed some sizzle to sell folks on this game and you got it with the SEC story line.

What do I expect from the game? Texas finds a way to lose. Oklahoma stumbles through their season and goes to the CFP as possibly the worst unbeaten team in ages. But... both schools start concentrating on line talent (thanks to Texas getting mauled by Arkansas) and the Big 12 hates us because we are moving out actually helps recruiting quite a bit over the next two years.

Same.

The way ESPN has been touting that Bama-A&M game all week even after A&M lost their arse the last two weeks tells me that was probably the game they were targeting.

They’ve already done an Iowa game and Penn State game this year, hence why they didn’t do that one.
