because centuries of inbreeding between Kentucky and west Virginia have left most people there toothless and deformed. see episode 2, season 4 entitled "Home" of the X files for clarification.

I have found over the years, that being nice to people and letting their football team obliterate yours...usually means they pity you and offer you all kinds of stuff from their tailgate that they wouldn't give to rivals. lol
