I wonder if the ATL pro teams sap some energy from their basketball and baseball programs. CFB is a big enough thing that it can overcome and still be popular, but I wonder if the Braves and Hawks scratch that itch for the UGA fan base. Like the MO phenomenon but not as bad.

Crean is terrible and the fanbase is apathetic
There is apathy toward this year's team because Crean should have been fired last year, and this season is a waste of time. Once he's fired at the end of this season the support will return.
Oh, and fans are distracted a bit this year by the success of those guys wearing pads.

Georgia is weird. They are situated in one of the top 5 recruiting areas in the country, yet all they seem to care about is football and a few smaller Olympic sports like swimming and diving and equestrian.
They should be a powerhouse in almost all sports, but they're not, while schools like Arkansas and Oklahoma have much better all around success in the major male and female sports.

Won 36 national championships across many different sports including Gymnastics,Mens & Womens
Tennis,Track & Field,Golf (11 players on the PGA tour) Swimming & Diving and Baseball. I'm not counting Equestrian in any of these.
Our recent history should be much better though and should improve with our shitty AD retiring a couple of years ago.

Alot of you may be better at basketball now but we have an
final four and m9st of you dont. Many of your programs get bounced early in the tourney year after year, Rick Barnes is notorious for it. Kentucky will always he the only true basketball school in this conference, then Arkansas and UF with the short run under donovan.

Florida is not a basketball school, no matter how much people try to force them.
Arkansas and Kentucky are the only real hoops schools in the conference, with real facilities and support behind their programs.
Tennesee is kind of there, too, but they don't have as good of a history as the other two places.
The trend now is to build smaller, 8000-10,000 seat bandbox bball arenas, so the likes of Bud Walton and Rupp are still going to be the best atmospheres in the league for the forseeable future.
