I kind of have a theory: Because the vast majority of our fanbase has an actual connection to the school. They attended, the kids/parents/friends/relatives attended. I mean, really, how many Harvey Updykes are in our fanbase?

Mizzou was like that when Heupel was the OC and when it was time to play SEC teams the offense was not that great. So same thing could be said with Auburn. It is why you have to play some SEC teams first before anyone will know if Auburn is going to be a great team.

I live in Columbus GA, so pretty close to the barn.
Auburn is my favorite team to love to hate.
Why do I hate the barn? Because you're fricking barners.
I've been to many games at barn stadium. Your chants is what annoys me the most. You guys sound like you're in a cult.

One of weirdest cliche I always chuckle at on this board. It's like y'all pretend Auburn is some type of AAU prestigious university and nothing but alumni that attend the games. My sister graduated from Auburn in 2011 also have family that attend Auburn currently. Truth is people in the state of Alabama want to be associated with winners, especially with lack of professional teams here. Same people who y'all call sidewalk Alabama fans now were Auburn fans in the early 2000s.
No different in Florida
80s Canes fans became 90s Noles fans than 00s Florida fans.
So when Auburn makes another title run and you start seeing a bunch of those tacky tiger tail on everyone's car outside Target or Publix you go to that person shake their hand and yell "wAr EaGlE".

Their fans have all the arrogance of Texas with all the accomplishments of Texas A&M
Every "special" team they've ever had was a result of cheating. Either paying Scam Newton or the crap that Bowden did back in the 90's. The basketball team with Porter(?, #2) and now with that slimy Bruce Pearl leading them they'll cheat again
They are the ULTIMATE jealous little brother and they act like it. Tehy will always be #2 in a 2nd rate state
They have one AWESOME tradition, letting that Eagle fly, seriously one of the coolest things in CFB, surrounded by tons of stupid shite like rolling trees.

Bryan Harsin has a punchable face. Not quite as punchable as Bruce Pearl... ok I take that back, Harsins face is more punchable.

I guess lastly it’s the way you suck Alabama off when someone is slinging a little shite their way. Without fail, some nut fondling Aubie swoops in to knight for Alabama and their fans when someone is trying to give them a little shite.

I don't hate any team but I wasn't a fan of malazahn so now that he's gone I'll go back to not caring at all.
On the flip side, many hate Bama but I'm a Saban fan and I respect what he's done. When he leaves I'll go back to not caring about them.
I would imagine any hate, which I haven't heard of because nobody is talking about aubie, comes from people being tired of delusional fan bases.

If you've ever met even one Auburn fan, then you know. Most pointlessly, gratingly self-righteous people on the planet. They're like Texas fans, except instead of being that way about Texas, which is admittedly a pretty decent state, they are that way about some little podunk town in bumfrick Alabama. They have (at least the ones born in Alabama) the god-given opportunity to pull for the greatest program in college football history which also represents their home state, and instead they choose to hate and despise their birthright. Just loathsome people.
