Why do y'all care about the polls in early October?

It's all horseshite. Especially the coaches poll.

Every year people try to predict the CFP field in late September/early October, and every year it's stupidity.

Just win, baby. The rest take care of itself.

I certainly don’t. But I will of course laugh about nonsensical crap, like UK dropping out of the top 25 after winning their game.

Because they will use the polls to justify teams with weak schedules getting into the playoffs

Like it or not, they will use ranking at time of game in metrics in some capacity

No. Not directly.

They do use the previous weeks polls as a basis for the following weeks polls. So indirectly, there is a minor influence.

The only 2 polls that matter are the current week's playoff polls (which haven't started yet) and the post season AP poll.
