The male cheerleaders at the other 13 schools are used to assist the female cheerleaders....

And only aTm fans think jazz hands are masculine.

I've always just laughed about the Yell Leader/gay thing with A&M here. It's started as kind of a "new member hazing" and it seems to have stuck around because it makes for some easy laughs and a way to make fun of all of the cult like Aggie traditions. I certainly don't take it seriously. The uniforms do look odd as hell to someone who doesn't get the context of how the tradition started 100 years ago when A&M was a small, all male military school.

BTW, my Dad was Head Yell at A&M and was a career Air Force Officer who served 3 Tours in Vietnam. He is about the toughest SOB around and grew up the youngest of 10 on the farm in West Texas and got through A&M on scholarships and working. He's a former President of the Former Yell Leaders Assn and I can say there are very few groups of people that are as impressive as that one. There are less than 200 members and among them you have a former Governor and multiple elected officials, some incredibly successful businessmen and attorneys, 2 people that have run the 12th Man Foundation, and a lot of decorated military veterans. Yell Leaders are elected and its the highest profile student role on campus. Those guys pull unlimited wool,

Except that it's a made-up statistic with no link/data to back it.

We may act like we don't have male cheerleaders, but there is no acting on your part that you don't have any female cheerleaders...none...zilch. Do you see the rub here?

We're historically an all-male college.
Alabama is not.
It stands to reason that many (most?) of our traditions would be rooted in that history.
I think you're smart enough to realize that.

All our male cheerleaders do is clap their hands and lift the little girls.

And most, if not all, of the SEC universities were "white" universities at one time. They eventually relented to social progress, and evolved their traditions accordingly. Ole Miss even changed their mascot over it.

Look, I get that you guys love your traditions, and that is great. Y'all are different, and we get it. But don't get pissy when you catch flack from the rest of the conference for sticking to a tradition that other see as outdated at best, and leaves you open for us to continue to rag you for it.

Just saying.

Who's pissy?
Most of you dish it out constantly.
It shouldn't bother you when someone responds every once and a while.

I knew one male collegiate cheerleader and that dude was more alpha than an Yell leader I've ever seen.

idk bro, Roy May was on site at the pentagon during 9/11 pulling people out of the rubble. He's been part of the sentinel for the tomb of unknowns, deployed to iraq as part of a parachute unit and is generally alpha as frick. He did all that before being a yell leader as a non traditional student in his 30s.

Here's the thing, 100 years ago LSU was a small all-male military school as well.

LSU got better, while A&M just, well, didn't.
