I have always been a fan of one team only, otherwise I want the other SEC teams to lose. I have never understood the SEC chant going up at our championship games. Never would I want another team from the SEC to win a championship, other than my team. Don't get it.

I'm indifferent on it, TBH. Although, if an SEC team (save UGA) plays ohio state or FSU, then sure. Other than that, I don't care one way if the SEC wins or not...if they do, great. if not, that's fine.

I used to never do it but now that Bama runs shite I kind of do because I feel bad for a lot of the other fanbases.

The obvious answer is the SEC looks better when SEC teams win non-conference games. But, I suppose you already knew that.

I often cheer for other SEC teams because I have friends and family that are students, alum, fans of those teams, and if doesn't directly adversely impact Alabama, then I like to see them see their teams have some success.

Plus it's fun to rub other conferences' noses in SEC superiority.

I would say you may be in the minority. MAY be.

I always root for all SEC teams to win.....but ONLY if it does not affect LSU's rankings or chances for a certain bowl game.

If it makes you feel better, I was rooting for ND and I hate them. Will be rooting for the Chokies too. Which makes me hate Bama even more, forcing me to root for that god awful team.

If nothing else, having SEC teams beat teams from other conferences improves SOS for YOUR team. Besides, when you're known as the best conference in football, people want to watch your games. The more people we have watching games, the more money every institution makes. I just can't see why you wouldn't pull for another SEC team against an OOC opponent. We can squabble and talk shite to each other amongst ourselves all we want, but need to put up a unified front in the face of other conferences because one team winning is good for all of us.

Because people like a sense/feeling of belonging (to the SEC)- it's a human desire

I feel like it started with the 2003 split title and 2004 auburn being left out of the title. Most reasonable fans realized that the success of the SEC can help promote their position nationally when their teams shot came around.

Sometimes, there are games on TV that don't involve / include Mississippi State University. Since I'm an MSU fan and I can't wish for both of these competing teams not named MSU to lose, die and go to hell I'm usually inclined to pick the one with the most monetary gain towards the region, entertainment, or some other personally driven reason. I understand how i'd be easy to get wrapped around the double wide axle if I were in your flip-flops though..

Because my school gets a cut of the action when you win.

Why in the hell would I not want this?
