the not stopping was less an issue than the dive at his legs.

Any defensive player getting a shot at a still standing QB with ball in his hands hits him high to attempt to force a fumble.

Tua is left handed and was facing Delpit with the ball in hand chest high. Delpit dove straight into Tua's lower body. Tua managed to get his right leg back and shift body position just before impact. If he hadn't, Delpit hits his right leg and or hyperextends Tuas injured leg.

There is/was no reason to go low in that scenario with Tua standing still. It looks pretty blatant.

Gonna be honest, after watching, this is spot on and I never even noticed it first time around. Wow, I really do think he was trying to take out his leg after watching again. Pretty fricked up honestly. I excused some of the dirty plays by LSU out of frustration. It's easy to lose sight of what's important when you are getting thrashed and are presented with an opportunity to be reckless and vent some frustration, but this was early.

If he is back next year I really hope we have someone especially looking out for him and keep him out of the backfield.

You can and absolutely should go high on a sack. The LSU player that hit Tua in the back went high, Q Williams absolutely went high and crushed Burrow on the .5 yr line.

That is the proper technique when attempting a sack as the goal is to force a fumble. No one is teaching linemen or blitzers to dive at a QBs Knees or legs. That is ridiculous

It was dirty.

That strategy actually wasn't bad, especially after forcing the punt.

Going uptempo was dumb, and that play action after the interception is fireable. 9-0 at the half would have been the best scenario you could hope for. I know Aranda was pissed.

Strange, I heard Gary bashing the frick out of him for the decision for exactly the same reason as the OP. I honestly thought I was reading a verbatim quote from him as I read it

I pretty sure we are saying the same thing. I'm agreeing with the OP

awful coaching. same as when they tried to go hurry up before half instead of running clock and receiving the football in the 2nd half.
