I went to Alabama strictly for the football team. Not ashamed to admit it either.

That is pretty pathetic but falls right in line with what a "simple-minded fool" would do.

ETA: thank you for your service

You are making my point. I'd rather be playing golf on a spring day than watching football practice.

OP your joys will slowly turn to misery as the expectations rise after you thump aubie 41-17.

Look Ole Miss has a tradition of great tailgating and they do it very well.

Bama has a tradition of winning championships and they do that very well.

It's what Bama does, "get over it."

I don't get mad or jealous at Ole Miss fans for having The Grove.

Don't get mad at Bama fans for wanting to win championships..

I don't regret it. I met great people, made incredible friends and have good connections now.

Oh, I know you're not. Most of my family is from there, spent summers and school vacation there, and 10 years as an adult. I know the deal. Another perspective though, to be fair, is that most everyone has at least one hobby. Might be reading, fishing, etc. For many, it's CFB.

It's all good man. To each his own.

Mad and jealous? No.

The couple of weeks in 2009 when Ole Miss was ranked in the top 5 was the most worthless period of time in my entire history as a fan. I invested emotionally and was torn to shreds as a result.

Since that realization, my life and my fanhood are in a much better place.

You might want to have a contingency plan for living if and when the wheels fall off the football program. Just sayin.

So Alabama made you quit? I see. It's all starting to come together now.

I kind of enjoy the importance of sports. Sure the lows can be low, but the highs are oh so sweet.

Notice which fan bases share this "opinion". The SEC divisions should be realigned to the Winners and Losers.

So your opinion is that emotionally investing into a collegiate football team is the best way to live?

You also seem to be implying that Bama's success on the field has some kind of direct correlation to your success as a person, which is the entire point of the thread

Don't worry. I don't expect you to follow me and actually engage in a conversation.

Basically, he is saying if you aren't a Bama fan then there is no reason to live, even if it is lived in the squalor of a trailer park decorated in Bama swag.

Alabama doesn't disappoint as much as Ole Miss does so it's easier to be emotionally invested and not be devastated by a loss.
