I had this discussion with some LSU grad coworkers some years back. They admittedly hate A&M, but couldn’t say why. They just knew that they were supposed to hate A&M.
I think the annual beatdowns from the early 90s really messed some people up. No other explanation was provided.

There’s been an animosity for longer than Texas A&M has been in the SEC. I remember a game at Tiger Stadium in the 80’s. Believe me, it was just as bad then. Maybe worse.
