Why are the Longhorns struggling so much in recruiting ?

5 Star LB Riley Pettijohn (McKinney, TX) was Crystal Balled heavily to Texas and he just verballed to Ohio State.
Texas Class is ranked 18th with Zero 5 Stars and even their Average Player Star rating is meh.
I would have thought that with Texas's deep pockets that they would be cleaning up in the NIL era, or at least be able to keep their 5 Star Texas guys home.
Maybe Austin was just a little too woke for the kid.

That is wild. I can’t wrap my head around why a Texas boy would want to freeze in the some of the most snoozefest venues in the Midwest.

Not really. Rankings are based on total "points," so having more commits gives you a higher ranking. Rutgers has 29 commits, only 4 of which are 4* players. The other 25 are 3* players (Rivals rankings). They will be way down the list in December when everyone else has 20+ commits.

We’ll end up with exactly who we want. If some kid thinks he’ll be better off somewhere else, he’ll regret it soon enough. In the meantime we’ll just take the next one in line.

How are they doing in the portal? Not many freshmen make an instant impact and many don’t hang around long.

That’s not possible with NIL contracts. It takes months to write them. So the truth is things aren’t as fluid as they used to be.

Until October and November rolls around and someone comes and offers more money. Kids commit early now for leverage.

No I meant McKinley if you had him you wouldn't have to throw a bunch of money at a transfer for one year with a injury history.
