Why are the horns all over my local news?

DFW guy here. I have had the privilege for several years not to have to hear anything about UT-Austin unless I went to visit one or had one over to our house. Local news covers TCU and SMU more than anything. Signs in people’s yards are all TCU or A&M. Even the Mizzou - tOSU cotton bowl made a bigger splash than anything Longhorns related.
Now, ever since SEC Media Days, I’m seeing Texas clips on TV every damn hour. It’s like someone just found out they exist.

I guess Texas being added to the SEC was bigger news than any of the other non-charter members being invited

Maybe buy yourself a doublewide and move to your beloved Mizzery and you won't hear much Longhorn related stuff? Just a thought..

And even to people that won’t.
As a fanbase they are the guy at the bar that wears his black shirt 2 sizes too small, slicks his hair back, applies bronzer, douses himself in cologne, but can’t read the room or carry on a conversation. With women opting for the alphas in the room, these guys go home depressed and slightly drunk, but perk up once they walk in the door and see all their framed portraits of themselves littered around their overpriced Austin studio apartment.
And even to people that won’t.

I’ve already converted my Dallas(HP) girl to Fort Worth. Missouri is the next step. Got a couple hundred acres up there but she’s living that life. Double wide would be A-OK.

I'm gonna guess you are hearing about Texas because of Texas being a part of SEC media days. And Texas is located in Texas.
Probably why you area hearing about Texas during SEC media days as opposed to South Carolina or Kentucky.
