I think the obsession is because no team in the SEC can take down the 10,000 lb gorilla (Bama).
The only teams with a chance to beat them reside outside the SEC (OU, Ohio State, Clemson). They know this, and although they want to see Bama go down, the conference pride thing trumps it all. OU is a threat to the conference pride.

I'm sure they turned the SEC down...they didn't want to be their punching bag.
Oklahoma would be no better than A&M in the SEC which is why they always get their
when they play them.
Go back to WV.
Say what you will about the SEC, but they own college football and do not need Oklahoma. Hell, if they needed another power school they would reach for the stars and not settle for Chok-lahoma
