Because their defense even let Ole Miss run on them and their offense is the football equivalent of soap opera.

Baker Mayfield would be the best QB in the SEC
In the first three quarters vs Tennessee, Mayfield was 8-of-25 for 84 yards and two interceptions. The Sooners trailed 17-3.
A key to Mayfield’s improved success in the 4th quarter was shorter throws. The average air-yards distance of his passes after the third quarter was 2.7 yards
He threw nine passes longer than 10 yards in the first three quarters (he completed two). He made one such pass after the third quarter. LINK
So against the only SEC team he faced he put up Anthony Jennings type numbers for 75% of the game. Stoops then didn't allow him to throw anything but a bubble screen in the 4th quarter. Good try though

And then they won the game because he was 11-14 for 103 yards and 3 TDs in the fourth and OT. Good job cherry picking three quarters as a sample size. I prefer to use an entire season.

To the OPs question: because teams run through aTm's defense like Mexican tap water.

I'm not making a bet with a tamu fan regarding the bama LSU game

I literally linked an article titled "Mayfield's precision helps pin Volunteers with historic loss." How did I cherry pick anything? I then gave his stats for the first 3 quarters, which were AWFUL, and then explained with factual evidence why his numbers were much better in the 4th quarter. .
You prefer to use an entire season? You said he'd be the best qb in the SEC. When shown evidence of how bad he was against the only SEC team he faced you now want to exclude that game but use all of the rest when he played bad Big 12 defenses. He was so bad vs Tennessee his coach wouldn't allow him to throw the ball further than 10 yards in the last quarter of the game that they were losing by 2 touchdowns.

A&M got blown out at home by Auburn last year with Jermery "backwards pass" Johnson starting at qb.
That is a soft team that will never win big in the SEC.

That was last years team, no one with half a brain thinks our offense will be that inept
And yes, losing to horrible Auburn was extremely embarrassing

No, I want to include alongside every other game he played, which you refuse to do. Continue to insist he's a walk on scrub though because of three bad quarters in a single game. This would be like me saying Fournette is so so because of his game against Alabama

The Aggies definition of a "good" running back and LSU or Bama or Arkansas or Auburn is totally different.
Hell those dudes took that kid from Newman and think they stole another one from us......in reality he was the 4th best running back in the state that year.
White is one hard contact away from injury. Behind him is a bunch of dudes that would sit the bench at any second west school not named ole miss or msu.

You said he'd be best qb in SEC. Well hey look he actually played a game against the SEC last year. Let's see how he did. Oh right it was so bad his coach had to drastically change the play calls in the last quarter of the game. Mayfield was great in the Big 12. I never said he wasn't. You do realize he won the qb job over Knight before the season started right?

No it wouldn't. The majority of the rest of his games were also against the SEC. Are you really this dense?
Look I get it. You want Mayfield to be great so A&M's now starting qb doesn't look as bad for losing his job to him after being the incumbent starter in his 4th year with that program. He is a great qb in the Big 12. Would he be as good in the SEC? Most likely not

Do I get to use Trevor Knight's performance against Alabama as the rule too?
Posted on 8/25/16 at 10:49 am to dallastiger55
Dude I've been saying the exact same thing lately. People will point to their DL because of the run defense, but they will definitely be better in that regard this year. I believe they have one of the best DLs in the country and this could be the year where they challenge Bama again.
Right now I see them 3rd in the West with a 9-3 or 10-2, but I'm not sleeping on them anymore.
With that said, I still think most of their fans on here are shite.

Because we've watched them play the past two seasons and they don't look good.
Where was Ole Miss just 2 years ago? 2012 8-5, 2013 7-6, 2014 9-4, 2015 10-3.
In 2012 and 2013 Ole Miss was 7-5 (3-5) and 6-6 (3-5) in the regular season. In 2014 and 2015 Ole Miss was 9-3 (5-3) and 9-3 (6-2) in the regular season.
I have no idea why people think things just stay the same because people don't completely overhaul rosters and coaching staffs.

Is it scary that even though Knight did beat Alabama he still couldn't keep his job?
