No boom has been dropped. In fact, the boom might as well be dropped on the Walmart crowd, since we are still playing two games a year in LR despite constant bitching.

Why is it that every single GSD thread starts with these words? And this is for starting a GSD thread on the Rant:

I can tell you that if LSU decided to bring back the "tradition" of playing in Shreveport and moved a good SEC game out of Tiger Stadium, there would riots in the streets.

well, cause I'm seriously not trying to make it a GSD, I just want to know the LR fan reasoning on why it has to be so many games.

We're playing nearly 25% of our schedule away from campus, and when we've got the Dallas game it's 50%-60% of our home schedule is played off campus.

The it helps with recruiting arguments is bullshite. You know what helps with recruiting? Having games on the campus where they'll actually live and create a life for themselves. This is 5x greater for the regular students. LR fan get off the tit, move out of mom's house. You can't go to UALR/UCA and still go to Razorback games.

Nothing sells recruiting better than being on campus, which we can't do 2-3 times a year because the games are off campus. Instead of having 5-6 dates for official visits we're stuck trying to work with 2 or 3 games to get all of the officials in. If anything all those games in LR are worse for recruiting.

OK F it, it's a GSD thread now.

Greedy? We've already sacrificed 1 game annually. We've sacrificed the LSU game. Now we're greedy for wanting to keep the 2 shitty games we have left? We want to keep "all those games", when we've already let some go?

The NWA fans said we were greedy and that LR having 3 game was a little excessive and that we should be happy with 2. Now we're greedy for having 2, which is a bit excessive, and we should be happy with 1.

Guess, what happens when we go to 1? The NWA fans will still say we're greedy.

You're right in that someone is being greedy. You're right in that someone wants "all those games" for themselves and won't compromise.
You're wrong about it being the LR fans.

Look, I'm on the record as saying all SEC games should definitely be on campus. I really wouldn't be that upset if all games moved to campus. I do like our arrangement with ULM where they count the WMS as a home game, so one of our "away" games is still in state.

But when you start off with "why are LR fans so greedy," you're going to get people's hackles up...

I know people in Sheridan (3 hr 38 min) and Dumas (4 hr 41 min) that make every game, too.

That works both ways? Why bitch about where they play when you can make it to the games anyways?

If the facilities were equal you would be right. But Fayetteville offers on-campus official visits and a bigger stadium. So it doesn't make sense to make scores of fans travel to a shittier, smaller, off-campus facility.

Holy shite, now you've done it...so you're saying my Dad, who mowed lawns just to make ends meet, and certainly didn't have the money to attend games, was not a "true" Razorback fan? Listening to every single game on the radio while he was working wasn't good enough? The only "true" fans are the ones who are fortunate enough to be able to spend hundreds of dollars to attend every game? GTFO

I live right across the street from War Memorial, and tailgating is the tits. Especially compared to weak-arse fayetteville.

Very true. And I don't really care whether they play a couple of games in LR or not but the LR games have been convenient for many fans.

And...people like you are why Arkansas will remain a second-class program. Too much emotion, not enough business. To be elite, we need to make cold, calculating business decisions like the rest of the top schools. We need to look at numbers only. Think about all the extra money if we moved all games to Fayetteville, yet we won't do it because we are emotionally attached to a shitty, tiny stadium hours from our campus.

Newsflash: we are supposed to be recruiting nationally now, and ZERO out of state kids give two shits about LR. They come on an official visit to Fayetteville, see the Fayetteville campus, and commit. They don't make side trips to LR because they don't give a shite and have no loyalties to it.

ETA: By my "true Razorback fans" comment I was digging the people who have the money in South Arkansas and don't make the trip because it is inconvenient. And if I read your post correctly, that was not the case with your father.

Yea and the players hate playing in LR also! right? I mean why would any player ever want to play there. Its not just the some fans that enjoy playing there but a lot of players also. You are crying about games you have the ability to chose to go see or not. There are plenty of the poorer razorback fans from SEAR/SWAR that cant afford to make that trip to Fay.

Point is the players like it, tons of fans like it, and its a place where some of the best games I have ever seen has been played. Drop a few Mil on it and renovate it and get the seating up to 60k and it would be a decent place to play.
