Because in this world of NIL and payola - Cigars call the shots.

Gone is the sober AD who waits out the end of the season and tries to have a replacement already in pocket. You can't let the money dry up in today's game. If the Cigars are pissed, you do what they say. You can't afford to lose these guys.

Gundy, Titboss, Franklin, Napier, BK... all sacked due to boosters who couldn't take anymore.

Face it, in this new world, not only do players have more power, but so do the check writers. AD's have been reduced to hand puppets, and Coaches are just bouncing around getting rich off buyout clauses.

Don't overflex just because your school fired a coach, it was probably done in a shite storm of angry boosters and spineless AD's, which doesn't really bode well for locking in any kind of improvement and/or bigger name.

Sark's next.

Already started hedging his bets with the NFL.

Could you point out some examples of overflexing?

I don’t know anyone quite yet that is flexing because we have not met expectations this year. I don’t read this board as much as the tiger rant.

But I could be wrong.

Every other thread is some section 8 doing an LSU flex over BK hitting the skids.

I do not see the value in mid or late season fires. You can't go after a good coach because they are still coaching. Your recruiting class, who committed to the fired coach (I know, you commit to the school, but come on) is left dangling with lots of time to be poached, and you're left with assistant coaches trying to hold the team together while making game plans and figuring out where their next job will be. Plus prospective coaches might be leary of places too ready to fire the coach. So what is the advantage?

Exactly - there is no advantage at all. You are only doing it to make hyperventilating big boosters feel better. You can't reason once a coach has dug his grave with the big dogs. They will commit program suicide to have his arse fired.
