Agree completely. My point is that the LSU game is the most likely to not sell 76K. Let's be honest here--Arkansas begins virtually every season with realistic hopes of winning the West, and usually by the LSU game, those hopes are dashed.
dude, just a few weeks before the LSU game we drew over 70k for a game against Tulsa. And that Arkansas team only had 4 wins at that point.
The game against LSU is always good. It would pack the stadium, regardless. And especially if Arkansas gets better and the game gathers more importance.

You are 10-8 against the Rebs since expansion. This during our time of almost receiving the death penalty and going thru our worst coach in modern history.

Also, the stadiums were similar in size for a very long time. L.R. might have even had an edge there too. Razorback stadium was not very impressive when I was in school there. Times have changed. Stadiums have too.
quote:Radio accessibility was a big thing. NW Arkansas' air waves were dominated by Oklahoma for a while, SE Arkansas' air waves were dominated by Texas, and the rest of the state didn't have as much of an emotional attachment to the Razorback program. According to the Arky NY Alumni president up here, whoever was in charge in the late 40's and early 50's offered a deal to radio networks around the state that would allow them to broadcast Arky games for free, as opposed to OU and UT, both of whom charged a fee (I have no source other than him, so I don't know how true this is--if it is, it makes sense).
Those schools you mentioned never had much "bigger" programs, if at all. But L.R. did play a big part in Arkansas' statewide and out of state popularity because it helped make the games more easily accessible.

There was hardly any interstate road access north of Little Rock and the roads were terrible. There was only intermittent access in the early 70s. The interstate roads were still under construction. I remember.

I believe this is true. It was just Razorback Stadium. It wasn't named DWR-RS until years later.

I was a kid back in the early 60's so a lot of that was before my time. By the late 50's, the whole state was supportive of the Hogs.
I grew up in extreme south Arkansas. I do know this: Even as late as the early 70's, traveling to Fayetteville from the south by automobile could an extremely dangerous task. The roads were very crooked with hairpin turns everywhere, no shoulders except for 100+ ft. sheer drop-offs, and steep inclines. The last 100 miles were the worst. If your vehicle left the road, it could very likely be bad news. Things are much different now with the new roads, airport, and industry. It's a beautiful area.

+ one, love going to Fayetteville
Edit to announce: Arky's biggest rival, at least this year, is Bama in Fayetteville, and second is LSU in Little Rock.

Glad I have tickets to both games.
IMO both games will go down to the wire!

As far as the magnolia twat, Ole Miss can just keep that thing....it's stupid. LSU nor Ole Miss needs that dumb arse trophy to prove to anyone that it's a rivalry game.
frick you, you designed the Trophy.

ElDorado area. ...though I am familiar with Warren. One of my grandparents lived there for a while. From where I lived, it was a closer drive to Dallas than it was to Fayetteville.

I would say the bitter boogs, even though Arkie has had the upper hand lately.

I have a kid who has yet to witness Allbarn beating Arkansas outside of moral victories during his lifetime.
