The defenses in the 2011 Alabama vs LSU game?

**OR**

The offenses in the 2019 LSU vs Alabama game?

The 2011 teams had the following:
10 defensive players that ended up as first round picks:
Morris Claiborne
Mark Barron
Michael Brockers
Dre Kirkpatrick
Dont'a Hightower
Barkevious Mingo
Dee Milliner
Eric Reid
CJ Mosley
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

An additional 19 defensive players were drafted between 2012 and 2015 that were on the rosters for that game.

16 of the 22 starters were drafted within the first 3 rounds.

29 total draft picks.

For the 2019 game, draft projections for 2020 (I used walterfootball.com - if there's a better one, please let me know):

1st round picks:
Joe Burrow
Tua Tagovailoa
Jedrick Wills
Jerry Jeudy
Henry Ruggs
Justin Jefferson
Lloyd Cushenberry

2011's game had 5 defensive players taken in the first round in the 2012 draft; at this pace, the 2019 offenses are ahead of that pace with 7.

Additional rounds for 2020 draft:
Clyde Edwards-Helaire (2nd)
Thaddeus Moss (3rd)
Damien Lewis (6th)

In 2012's draft, the defenses had 5 players taken after the first round. The total number of draftees:
2012 defensive players: 10
2019 offensive players: 10

15 total points including OT vs 86 total points
534 total yards vs each team surpassing that individually (559 and 541 yards each)

To sum up:

Which will have more combined first round picks?
Which will have more combined total draft picks?

2011 Alabama+LSU defense?
2019 LSU+Alabama offense?

It’s cute that Alabama fans want to compare themselves to the2019 LSU best team ever.

Talk about coat tail riders.

You're right.

As a fan, I am comparing myself to the 2019 LSU football team.

I think I can take 'em, in an IT battle. They got numbers, but I've got them on experience and certifications easily. I fully expect Orgeron to hire a crack IT Coordinator to make up for it though.

By buying players just like the basketball team it’s all starting to unravel

I think all of those guys go in the 1st except for Cushenberry. He should be drafted in the 1st 3 rounds though.

I’d put it at 6 first rounders with it being:

Joe Burrow
Tua Tagovailoa
Jedrick Wills
Jerry Jeudy
Henry Ruggs
Justin Jefferson

Others for LSU almost certainly getting drafted:

Thad Moss
Clyde Edwards-Helaire
Lloyd Cushenberry
Damien Lewis

Others for LSU that could be drafted but have question marks:

Stephen Sullivan
Saahdiq Charles
Adrian Magee

Who would fall into those categories for Bama?

Alabama only has the first rounders with prospect grades off of offense. Jeudy, Ruggs, Tagovailoa, and Wills are the only offensive prospects that are given a draft analysis on NFL.com

A few juniors are coming back that would have most certainly been in the first three rounds if they had declared:
Najee Harris
Alex Leatherwood
DeVonta Smith (I think with the WRs already in the first round, Smith is helping himself by waiting)

I think Smith will go first round in 2021 assuming he maintains. Harris, being an RB, isn't likely to have been a first rounder. Leatherwood would depend on team need.

Matt Womack was originally projected to be way up there, but his draft stock just tanked. He might get on as a FA later. Aside from that, a lot of players are coming back - Alabama's OL Jrs are all coming back aside from Wills.

I feel LSU has more offense go in this year's draft and Alabama in next year's draft just because of how many JRs are returning.

That feels right to me. Chase will definitely be a 1st rounder, and Marshall should be in the first three rounds if not a first rounder. I think Ed Ingram gets drafted too.

So by our count, starters that should/could be drafted (including Sullivan):

Likely 1st rounders (including Smith): 8

Rounds 2-3 (including Marshall): 6

Later rounds (including all iffy players): 5

That is absurd.

If that holds true the game will come just short of matching 2011's first rounders but will end up with more total NFL draft picks.

Ridiculously so.
