I agree with others that Charley Pell should be in this discussion. For those who may not be familiar with Pell's importance in the turnaround of the floundering Gator athletic program and culture in the late 1970's, I recommend googling Franz Beard's informative historical article entitled "Legacy of Charley Pell". It is a compelling piece that puts his efforts in perspective and, as Beard argues, sets the table for the Spurrier and Meyer successful eras at UF.

Neither. It is Billy Donovan

honestly your crazy if you would rather have urban meyer. Both coaches were so elite that its really a wash as far as success. both coached shitty schools to the elite level...utah, duke, south carolina, (and actually for steve spurrier you have to count the florida gators in this category).......therefore steve spurrier never went and took over a powerhouse school and to put it in ncaa video game terms "took over a 6 star school".......
so with that slight nod to spurrier and the fact that spurrier is a helluva lot more likeable and wont lead your program into the abyss for the future when he is gone.....i consider this an easy decision. The vols were elite as well as FSU during that time. it was fricking peyton mannings era for gods sake. the vols were so talented during the 90s it was ridiculous. you could basically equate them to the beginning of sabans bama tenure that ran off urban so fast. the rest of the sec wasnt quite as challenging during steve's time but other circumstances favored urban such as the bcs

Correct . The coach’s name is Urban . His parents named him after Pope Urban .

I’m going with Spurier.
He only won one national title, but he won more SEC championships and maintained a dominant program for a longer period of time. Florida was feared in the 90s by just about everyone. It was amazing.
Sunbelt Billy will surpass both of them.
