Is that the one where he hung over 70 on them..and Don Strock (Later with the Dolphins) was their QB? I plead Old...I was there at Legion Field that day. We showed no mercy..I loved every minute of it!

you have your Alabama-VPI blowouts mixed up. Strock was a SR QB in '72 when Alabama won in Tuscaloosa 52-13. The next year without Strock ,Alabama won 77-6.
Now,in 1970 Alabama got its first win on Legion Field's new astroturf beating VPI 51-18 in Jerry Claiborne's last year as Hokie HC.

Our defense DID suck, but let's not forget our pic 6's, and for how many games in a row??? ......you guys were a beneficiary of that too.....so not exactly QB "excuses". We'll see how Bama handles a similar situation in 2009....better yet, how Saban handles it

My Bad..I was at the 77 point blow out I thought Strock was the QB that year also. Check your record book about another 70 point win against The Washington Huskies in the 70's..I was there for that one also.
Willie Shelby from Purvis Ms was our return man then. Shelby caught the kick off at the Goal line ran it all the way...and the rout was on. Then some of these people want to diss Coach Bryant. They can say all they want...he was 'da Man in his Day..

Nah....not by a long shot....the past is not winning an NC in the last 15+ years, not the last 6 years....that's about as recent as you can get!! ...and you guys apparently think so too with the $$$$ you threw at Saban.....
