I'd be surprised if it wasnt ward. FSU offered him a boatload of cash to replace mark stoops and he turned it down to stay here.
if Ward were to be promoted to head coach i think wed have a good chance of keeping Shawn Elliot and GA Mangus on staff which is something I want to happen.
Hard to predict the coaching market down the road but if Spurrier retired after this season and we went with Mr. Outside Hire, the number one guy I'd want is Gary Patterson. I'd also want us to take a run at David Shaw and Chris Petterson.

Charlie Strong is an interesting thought... he's got the ties to SC.
I like Strong but I'd put about as much faith in him being able to have long term success in the SEC as I would Skippy Holtz. In other words, zero.
Bubba will replace the HBC when the time comes. We'll all begin to see more and more of Bubba beginning this year and it will continue to increase over the next three and four years until the transition appears seamless sometime around the end of the 20@6 season.

Why are you so convince that Bubba and not Ward gets the promotion?
I'd think that Ward would get more opportunities in other places so promoting him would keep him here longer and when Bubba was given the play calling duties he didn't keep them for very long.

What has "Bubba" done to even be in this conversation. I for one would be very pissed if that happened and can't imagine Ward,Elliott, or G.A. sticking around if that happens. This is not the old SC. We're a threat in the east every year. One of few teams with back to back 11 win seasons, and not had a losing season in 10 years. All that has not been done to hand the keys over to a WR coach who isn't even one of the top 3 recruiters on the staff just BC he is the HBC's son.

Couldn't agree more.

Lorenzo Ward. Players love him.

It's all about who's available in 2025 I guess.
Mark Richt will have totally lost control of his geriatric bladder and high dive skills by that time, so it won't be him.
Saban and Meyer will have both been on their 2nd-3rd heart transplant, so they probably won't take it.
Charlie Strong will have already been picked up by Kent or Tenn by that time. (Same thing for Petrino.)
So I think the clear choice will be Chip Kelly after his 2nd stint with another NFL team and 3 year hiatus.
Seriously though, it will be around 2016-2018 and it's going to be whoever is available. I only see Ward as the only internal guy right now, but that could change if Bubba or Elliot start producing even better results.

Charlie Strong won't leave UL for South Carolina. Probably Jimbo Fisher.
it was reported last year when Charlie was getting all the attention that he made it known to someone that he was holding out for SC after Spurrier.

Doesn't make much sense to me. If he wanted to wait out to be our head coach it would make more sense if he stayed here and waited for Holtz to retire. He seems to hold a lot of loyalty towards Louisville for giving him his first shot. I think the only way he leaves there anytime soon is if an upper upper echelon school offers him. I'm talking like the top 5-6 programs.

I
maybe scrooster knows something we don't, but I don't what Jr could do between now and then to convince me. Personally I don't think the fan base would like it at all, and I don't think Ray Tanner would do it. If the D is solid until then we keep Ward. If not I think there is a coaching search.

And to the douche who said Dabo:
We'd burn down Willy B before we let that dumbass in to coach anything other than our cheerleaders seeing as that is all that mofo is even half-arse decent at.

Here's all I know.
Bubba will not receive any special consideration just because he is the HBC's son, but ...
Bubba has the management skills, the name, the experience, two national championship rings on his fingers, his Dad for a coucilari and he loves the school, the state, the program.
He's stayed out of the limelight for a reason while, at the same time, turning down other opportunities of his own.
If you look strictly at resumes, Bubba wins hands down. Plus he has built a lot of strong internal connections within the program over the years.
What coaches have been on Spurrier's staff the longest ... what coaches have also done all the management jobs on the staff from running the camps to being recruiting coordinator.

Strong would be best choice, but he won't coach on the SEC, probably his own wish. Keeping
that staff together would be the smart move. They have done well.

The staff has changed dramatically over the years since Spurrier arrived.
When we lost Jay Graham to Tennessee we filled the spot with Everette Sands.
Lose Brad Lawing to Florida and we fill the spot with Deke Adams.
Lose Ellis Johnson, promote Whammy.
But people tend to forget about other coaches who were here in the beginning that either left or we got rid of ... the first one that always comes to mind is Tyron Nix.

Yea I'm hoping there won't be much turnover with a new head coach

Bubba would be good for just that reason.
Elevate Whammy to Assistant Head Coach, Elliott, Adams, Sands and all the others stay in place including Mangus who is very very good friends with Bubba.
