My dad always said "you make your own breaks"

He would usually then call me a "nancy boy"

Richt's come very close on a number of occasions... just needs some breaks to go his way.

but he has never done it, you really can't be an elite coach if you haven't even won 1 MNC, you could say LSU came close to winning the MNC in 2011, does anyone care? no, all they remember is that bama was the champs, richt seems unable to bust through the ceiling and into the upper echelon of coaches.

Just stating that it's possible that we've gone as far as we can go under him, but letting him go could end up being a mistake, as it's unknown whether the successor would be able to compete at the same level or not.

then how was my original comment reaching? that is pretty much exactly my argument, UGA can't win championships with Richt, but he's still too good to get rid of

We've already seen what a Nick Saban disciple is capable of doing to a big name program.

My bad, I read the last part of your post wrong.

Thought you were saying any reasonably hire could surpass he's done. Sorry, long day.

Jimbo just doesn't get any practice playing good teams in the ACC.

Dooley was the main one I was referring to and he actually had head coaching experience, unlike Kirby.

Fisher has been pretty meh even though his record looks nice. His teams haven't lived up to expectations in arguably the worst BCS conference.

Anything that make a coach different from Dooley is a positive.

True, I guess.

How much longer is Kirby going to stay as "defensive coordinator" at Bama? If he hasn't accepted a head coaching offer yet, he may never do it.

Richt, and it's not even close.
gtfo with Bielema's B1G titles. They won it last year with 6 losses.

Some coaches just don't want be HC's I guess. John Chavis and Bud Foster(VT) have both been DC's since 95, and both look happy to remain that way.
Either could be the HC at a smaller school if they wanted, especially if the OC of VT became HC of ULL. VT has never been known for offense.

The SEC is loaded with top tier coaching; too many good coaches to pick from.

Unfortunately, a great troll opportunity was lost here.

Someone should have said Miles.

Not too many jobs out there with the same job security he has at Bama and pay more than his $1.5 million salary.

Making that kind of money, why would anyone want to be a head coach?
