Coached high school basketball for 20+ years. A teaching degree is a must if you plan on coaching for any amount of time. Principals w/ any kind of credibility want coaches who also are good teachers no matter the subject.

I could never ref. I see the crap you guys go thru and all the crap I have dished out. It takes a lot of patience for you guys to keep composure.

I have a question for officials. I have been involved in 2 games in my life where I knew one of the officials was obviously cheating. The first one(basketball)was a home game. The ref was so badly cheating for us I felt terrible for the other team. We were already a much better team and one ref gave them no shot. It was a tie game late in the first quarter and I drove to the basket taking like 6 steps and committing an obvious charge. This guy called a block and I shot 2. The other was an away game where this one ref just was screwing us. 3 straight trips down the floor he called on offensive foul on our best player. Bad thing is it was late in the 4th and we were down 2. Now my question is if your reffing a game and the other ref is obviously showing bias what do you do? Turn him in? Make makeup calls???

Do you all find it particularly difficult to hold your tongue when folks discuss things that are just off/wrong?

Not really. I normally discount what they are saying and hold it against them the rest of the time.

I have or had a hard time when it came to JPW. He took a beating. A lot of times for crap that wasn't his fault.
