Sounds like the same thing they were saying about Tennessee job.

Bowden ~ 5 years
Tuberville - 10 years
Chizik - 4 years
Malzahn - 8 years
Harsin ~ 2 years
Avg. 5.8 years/coach.
Tuberville had 10 years but you tried to run him out of town halfway through, fans bitched for years wanting him replaced. Your school then flew up to meet with Petrino to offer him the job, news got out and they had to back track it.
Then Gus, you wanted him fired most years.
Auburn fans always want their coach fired. It will be the same for the next guy.

So he was at Auburn for 10 years, right?

Erroneous. But he was still there 8 years right?

Welcome to the SEC. Maybe you guys will finally win something if you develop a similar attitude.

The coaching fraternity took notice of the depth and breadth those with money and power at Auburn were willing to reach to fire a football coach. And now it’s all coming back to haunt them.
Yeah I’m sure Kiffin, who has plenty of skeletons in his closet, wants to deal with a bunch of probing boosters that are willing to air your dirty laundry out publicly in an attempt to embarrass you.

Typical writer today. Look at the University, the Alumni, the fanbase, the financial position, the location of the University, and the facilities. Anyone with common sense knows why AU is high on the list. Just a bunch of dumbass writers.

There are probably a couple of thick girls in there, too.

Anyone wanting a tremendous payout would take that job. Not coaching at Auburn is a damn good work if you can get it.

It's not a bad job but being in the same state as the bluest blue blood + going head to head with Kirby + playing in the West is brutal.

quote:Correct, and Auburn routinely has one of the top 3 toughest schedules to maneuver every single year. It's one of the hardest jobs in the country and it comes with a fanbase that has tasted championships recently. Fan expectations have ratcheted up a few notches compared to when Tuberville was hired.

Auburn has proven, with the right coach and players they can stand toe to toe with Bama/UGA/UF/FL and they can win a championship.

Gotta love the cuck media. They roast coaches for sexual allegations one year, and then they run out with "Hire Urban or Freeze!" two years later

Chris Klieman? Aranda?
Would both likely be great hires but again, ask yourself why they’d take that job. A few extra million may be enough to lure them but imagine leaving Baylor or KSU and dealing with those Auburn boosters.

Kiffin would have to be truly insane to give up what’s he’s got at OM and subject himself to the shitshow that is the Auburn HC job
You mean like Brian Kelly leaving what he had to subject himself to the shitshow that is the LSU job?

Sounds like classic Lane Kiffin.

You think the situation involving Auburn’s boosters is at all comparable to LSU?
Let’s not even get into that fact that the last three HCs (including Les Miles and Ed Orgeron) have won NC at LSU. Clearly it’s not the shitshow you’d like it to be.

Either you are getting paid 7 figures not to coach or 8 figures to coach.... Doesn't seem that bad either way.

I won't pretend to know the ins and outs of their foundations cash flow. But, they are paying multiple buyouts and figured out in Jan they couldn't afford to or at least justify buying out Harsin unless things got really bad. Well, they got really bad, and they pulled the trigger.
But, realistically, how much of a cash grab could they pony up for anyone.
They ended up with Harsin when AU was in better shape because they couldn't/wouldn't make the price right for others.
I'd go all in on Freeze. He is a competent coach and great recruiter, and he may be the most desperate of any other candidate that fits that bill.
