Clear winner here. USC
false. they won it on the field with ineligible players. had they not cheated, would they have been as good? probably not. next...

NO-PETE does have a sweet ring to it.

if we are starting in 2000 the decade cut off would be 2009, so AU's last championship wouldn't be in discussion
the op is since 2000. even so, lsu is still the best.

its very subjective
it's only subjective if you try to artificially limit the criteria, such as merely going by undefeated seasons or heismans. the more criteria you add, the more objective the evaluation and the more clear lsu is the best.

they were consistantly dominant

if you were to argue that dominant means most top 10 seasons
why artificially limit the discussion that way? because you want to diminish what lsu accomplished.

Texas is top 3-4

people see "dominant" and think star laden teams and highlight reels, its hard not to.

Most think/remember ______ being dominant because they spent weeks at #1 during a handful of regular seasons.

I think it's Florida. And I am discounting USC because of the Bush scandal.

It's gotta be LSU or the Gators (I think the Gators - narrowly). One thing ya hafta say about UF & LSU, when their moments came on the biggest stage they cashed in their chips. OU became known more for wilting under the bright lights ("Big Game Bob" has become a term of derision). USC cheated and lostone of their BCSNC games. And the Horns got beatdown in one of their BCSNC appearances. When it was time for the Bayou Bengals and the Gators to step up, they did.

your non-homerism is quite refreshing

you might have the best post of the thread, with stats, links to back up those stats, and an objective view point

no, they played because they were deserving. had pitt taken care of business, someone else would have deserved it.

Pitt was an unranked team... WV was the team who didn't take care of business. Kind of like LSU didn't take care of business against Arkansas or Kentucky...

Yup, I think WVU was the nail in the coffin for the "Big Game Bob" moniker.
White and Slaton single-handedly embarrassed OU, shite was glorious

I tend to agree with this, and I also tend to ignore the NCAA issues b/c the way I see it nothing reggie took from agents resulted in an on the field advantage for USC. The NCAA vacating those wins was purely a punitive measure and I think the NCAA is a joke.
