I don't remember the '04 Auburn team having that unstoppable feel to it. I guess that "it" factor. They were obviously very good, but they didn't "scare" me. So it always surprises me when AU fans throw that team into the pantheon of great teams.

The 2004 SECCG and that years Sugar Bowl probably contribute to the "meh" attitude for that team.

I don't think anyone, including Auburn fans, are saying '04 was one of the top 10 teams of all time. That being said, they were one of the strongest of the last decade, even more so than last year's Auburn team that won it all.

they were certainly better than LSU 2007

I meant for this to be from 2000-present... but its my fault for using the word Decade. I didn't realize everyone would take that so literally

im changing the title of the thread

Ahhh, since you changed the Subject and include 2000, I'll adjust my Top Ten (see below).

quote:

2000-2010

1. LSU (110 wins, 2 BCS Champ, 3 SEC Champ)
2. Florida (108 wins, 2 BCS, 3 SEC)
3. Oklahoma (122 wins, 1 BCS, 6 Big 12)
4. Texas (115 wins, 1 BCS, 2 Big 12)
5. Ohio State (102 wins, 1 BCS, 4 Big 10)
6. Auburn (102 wins, 1 BCS, 2 SEC)
7. Alabama (68 wins, 1 BCS, 1 SEC)
8. Boise State (124 wins, 0 BCS, 8 WAC)
9. Virginia Tech (110 wins, 0 BCS, 4 ACC)
10. Georgia (104 wins, 0 BCS, 2 SEC)

(a. I prioritize BCS Championship winners over non-BCS Championship winners, and b. U$C is not allowed to come out and play)

the LSU game that season.

I dont see how you can take away from Au for that game. They defending champs is a back and forth defensive game?

I am still trying to figure out how anyone has justified adding any team other than LSU and UF.

Too lazy to go back and look this up, but I think AU has the h2h advantage over UF.

3-3 vs UF from 2000 to 2009

I admit, as a Tide fan I probably overestimate the greatness of some of our teams. I still think the '92 defense was the best I have seen. When, in reality, the offensive limitations of that team keep it from being truly "great". But '92 is still my favorite Tide team so I probably rank it higher than it should be.

I guess I just think of '04 Auburn as solid but not spectacular. The '08 Gators, '03 LSU and '09 Bama just "felt" greater to me, if that makes sense. And, hell, last year's AU team once they started rolling halfway through the season scared me more with Cam. Completely subjective, I admit.

4. Texas (106 wins, 1 BCS, 2 Big 12)

6. Auburn (93 wins, 1 BCS, 2 SEC)

8. Boise State (114 wins, 0 BCS, 8 WAC)
9. Virginia Tech (99 wins, 0 BCS, 4 ACC)
10. Georgia (96 wins, 0 BCS, 2 SEC)
Replace UGA with. . .something else.

Other than that, I agree.

I dont disagree. It is interesting that the 04 team went undefeated and had 5 1st rounders including the entire backfield but ppl see 08 UF and 03 LSU as better even though they lost a game and 09 Bama and 10 AU as better.

There were three Heisman winners on those teams.

I do not think that 03 LSU was better ...to me they are also in the "meh" category.

I know what you mean, but they did have a pretty nasty offense with Cadillac and Ronnie Brown. They also ran the table with no slip ups, someting LSU '03 and Florida '08 didn't do (lsu lost to the zooker and florida lost to Ole Piss)

But I'm with you '09 Bama would have beaten all their asses!!!

Then Maryville (TN) High school should rank up there.

I mean, since wins are what is most important.

Or App State.

Because if you factor in anything else, Boise isn't much more than an also-ran.

Also Au in 04 has like the #3 scoring defense...like 11 points a game.

not a CFB program as the OP stated.

The OP also stated "most dominant", not most accomplished .
