Well, the poster never said, "Alumni Association", just "Aggie Alumni [sic] status".
I'm not sure why so many people have such a problem with the word, "alumnus", which is literally, "a graduate or former student". "Alumni" is plural, and as for "alum", that's aluminum potassium sulfate used for pickling and baking.
