Scoobie Doo usually at this time of the year the defense out plays the offense so maybe the defense is not the best or even elite as one of your buddies said

Explain to me how a defense that was dead last against the pass last year is the #2 overall this season. Doesn't add up really...

So, the worst secondary in the SEC is coming back aaaaannd that makes their pass defense better. Ok. Good argument.

UF's D in 2007 wasn't that bad.

SEC Defense
1.) Florida
2.) LSU
3.) Alabama
4.) Ole Miss
5.) Tennessee
6.) AU
7.) UGA
8.) SCAR
9.) Miss St
10.) Vandy
I've got LSU finishing above the Tide defense for two reasons:
1) LSU has an easier schedule
2) Alabama will lose more games (see above)
JMO.

LSU has an entire new staff and an entirely new and nasty attitude call me a homer but i say LSU D on top of sec this year. Bama will be lucky to finish 3rd in the west

Alabama returns 9 starters on Defense including All-American Cody, and should have been All-American McClain. Name another defense starting two top 15 picks? We'll have more depth on the D-line so the loss of Greenwood won't be felt. My only concern is how Barron will fill in for Johnson, and how our Corners will match up with taller WRs.
Why would you expect Ole Miss's D (which lost all-american Peria Jerry) and was last against the pass to be better than Alabama's? That's just lunacy.

Pretty overrated.

Pretty underrated.
Bama's D will be good again, but will struggle more than last year with some new faces in the secondary (Especially if Robby Green starts) and the offense struggling more this year than last.

Possible 2nd best, I'll admit. Florida's may be the best when we play them in Atlanta.

Un-frick-ing believable. You know Id forgot about that, yea ,this team is much better than anybody could possibly imagine, just saying in case you need reminding. Heres one -dont forget its a dam spring game!

I have yet to read anything negative regarding LSU's defense written by any knowledgeable observer of LSU's spring practices.
Basically, anyone who has seen the Tiger defense play in person has been impressed. The enthusiasm is back, the players are making plays, and the intensity has been turned up several notches.
Yes, it's only spring practices, and the defense is always ahead of the offense at this point.
But remember, this isn't your average run-of-the-mill garden variety offense. LSU is returning all but two starters off of the fourth-highest scoring offense in the SEC.
Also remember that the offense figures to be improved in 2009, if for no other reason that the QB's have the actual game experience they totally lacked at the beginning of 2008.
So in light of all the returning starters and production on offense, what the defense has demonstrated this spring is eye-opening indeed.
I'm thinking it's going to be a big year. As in SEC championship game big.
