The absurdity and irony of your comment is just epic.
His legacy is that he built a natty contender, then walked out on those kids just before getting to the dance.
He can’t stay and finish the season. Don’t blame Ole Miss for that. It’s obvious why that is unrealistic.
If Ole Miss were in the position of, say, Texas (close, but not this year), I’d have no problem with it.
He abandoned the people that made this opportunity possible. For the vast majority of us watching, THIS is the problem.
The fact that you can’t get this because you are a “real fan”, is also the problem.

But what good is an opportunity if you can’t take it? Is Kiffin supposed to be a victim of his own success for an indefinite length of time? If OM makes the playoffs again next year and another big dog comes calling… still can’t go? And the next year? And the next year? No one coaching a playoff team can move? They have to wait for a non-playoff year when their stock is likely lower for obvious reasons?
That’s bullshite.
Programs fire the frick out of coaches at midseason - not caring one bit about the relationships those coaches have with the players they recruited - to get a head start on the next coach. Fans are just as selfish as the coaches and players.
I have zero sympathy for a program that’s being abandoned because the program would have done the same thing to the coach if they weren’t winning.

Screw that. Don’t care.
Other teams have unapologetically used the rules of the day to better their positions…there has never been anything “good for college football” as a whole.
Media voted fake champions. Players were bought. Games fixed. Unfair advantages to favored independents. Etc. etc.
Nothing happened today except a coach taking a better job. Happens 20 times every year.
