That's yet to be seen with 2 new, highly rated prospects back there. Plus let's also mention that we have BVG now. We will be much improved.

In all honesty, y'all can't get any worse. That had to the the absolute worst AU defense in school history, at least the worst that I've ever seen.

I bet BVG is putting a red hot poker up some asses right now to get those guys ready for the season.

LSU fur shur......but I have to give credit to State.....Banks, Broomfield and Whitley. Whitley is one of the hardest hitters if not the hardest hitter (never seen him tackle with his arms, he's a missile).

You have to actually tackle someone to be considered hardest hitting.

Most folks have nothing to base their opinion but what we saw AU do last year, right? And your secondary did a hell of a job hitting thin air when they took the wrong angles and failed to execute.

No disrespect, but BVG and the new secondary coach (Martinez ?) have got their work cut out for them in the off season.

Somebody on that old defensive coaching staff failed miserably at teaching your players the fundamentals of tackling and correct angle pursuit. Why the hell Gene didn't step the frick in and take over that shite when he witnessed it for 2 years is beyond me.

Why the hell didn't Chizik come fricking unglued when he sat and watched his defense play like that? Pitiful, execution was pitiful.

Wow...

1) First picture has Josh Bynes. He was a LB.
2) T'Sharvan Bell will more than likely be riding the pine to recover from a horrible knee injury
3) Daren Bates is a LB
4) Erique Florence did make that tackle
5) We've already been over Demetruce McNeal and his horrible angles.

As I've said, the starting unit will probably be Robenson Therezie, Erique Florence, Chris Davis, and Demetruce McNeal/Jermaine Whitehead. Go watch film of RT27 and EF14. Chris Davis really came on at the end of the year, also.

ETA: WTF is your point in posting a picture of Kenny Bell on a fleaflicker? Noone had a chance to tackle him.

ETA #2: A missed tackle by Neiko Thorpe? He doesn't even play for AU anymore and sucked to start with.

There are too damn many question marks surrounding your defense for y'all to be considered at the "hardest hitting secondary" right now. Your coaches have a ton work to do with the entire unit, IMO. Now, I think BVG is just the man to get the job done, a good hire by Chiz.

1) I already stated that I think LSU has the hardest hitting secondary. It was earlier in a post so you probably just overlooked it. Honest mistake.

2) This is the fun part. There are just about as many "question marks" in Auburn's secondary as Alabama's linebacker core. Does that stop Alabama fans from thinking their core is the best in the league/country based on recruiting and coaching? No. There's just as good of a chance of Auburn's secondary can be damn good with BVG/WM coaching them, plus the talent that is distributed throughout, too.

Sorry if you think I am singling you out, I'm not trying to.

From last year to this year, we upgrade fully in the secondary.

Safety - Lose Neiko Thorpe, and bring in big-time recruit/player Erique Florence. Even though we do have a weakness at the other safety spot, Demetruce McNeal is a year older and also getting much better coaching this season. We are also working freshman all-smerican Jermaine Whitehead in at safety and he is also the nickel starter.

Cornerback - Lose T'Sharvan Bell to a horrible knee injury, but he seemed to get worse every year. I'm going to blame it on coaching. However, we return everyone else, which includes Chris Davis, Robenson Therezie, John Mincy, Ryan White, Jonathan Rose, Jermaine Whitehead, etc... This will be the most talented and best coached set of cornerbacks yet in the Chizik tenure.

Example #1 of why I think we will have one of the hardest hitting secondaries. Check out this LINK from Rivals.com in 2011. The #1 and #2 guys with be starters for us this year.

Example #2 so you can see for yourself how hard Robenson Therezie hits is in this LINK. Dude is a complete animal.

I also should've stated in the OP that I meant starting units... We have guys like Jonathan Rose that refuse to come up and hit.

A slippery slope, Auburn has to have DB's that can come up and support the run against ball control Bama & LSU then has to have back pedalers to run with a pass happy Arkansas

I agree...

Then again, Therezie and Davis are two of our fastest players. Therezie was clocked running a 4.27, or whatever, earlier last month. Although I don't think it's completely accurate, it has to be pretty close.

Imagine the nightmare if an SEC west squad ran the Navy offense they are now running at Georgia Tech one week it would be the triple option, the next air Arkansas, then a smash mouth Bama or LSU

Sadly, Georgia might have to endure this is an upcoming season.

GT, Alabama, LSU, and Arky are all possible opponents. That would suck on a massive level.
