Auburn is ranked by US News and World Report only like 10 spots ahead so there is really no difference...

There isn't really much of a difference between any of the SEC schools other than Vandy IMO. Each will have specific programs in which they excel, but overall I don't think there's a huge variation in perceived prestige or job opportunities.

Well, my brother in law got rejected from Alabama and accepted to Auburn.

And my sister in law flunked out of Alabama and transferred to Auburn and got her degree. In sociology.

My husband's siblings are dumb.

Yeah, you have. That's probably not something those people like to talk about though.

To whoever was asking about the acceptance at Mississippi Valley being so low: It's probably so low because you have a bunch of minorities from the fine Mississippi public schools in the Delta that are applying and don't know what the requirements are and such.

Other questions might be how hard is it to earn a degree, once you are accepted, or the percentage of students who are pursuing degrees in the tougher subjects like engineering or pharmacy as opposed to education.

Oh, I know.

It's also why Ole Miss has a higher acceptance rate than Miss. St.
Turns out more african american kids who can't make admission requirements would rather go to State.
that's suprising

You're kind of right, though.
They have no reason to fear the Klan at Ole Miss either, but we have a bad reputation. That'll work itself out, though.

Quit confusing everybody with facts. Don't you know uninformed opinions are more convincing?

that is the average gpa and act score right now at Auburn. last year the record was set for highest gpa and act scores in an incoming class at 25 on act and 3.6 gpa.

Auburn people are notorious for trying to sell the absurd idea that Auburn is some vastly superior academic paradise compared to Alabama. The two schools have been basically tied in the U.S. News rankings for 5 years now. I know for a fact that Bama has had a lower acceptance rate than Auburn the last couple of years. I have quite a few friends that struggled to graduate from high school but still got into Auburn. Auburn is a very solid school, but the idea that Auburn is somehow several steps above UA is absurd
