I will take a Gunner Stockton every time for how we win. Not a head case...

100%

He is, imo, the ultimate living embodiment of UGAs culture and the type of players they’re looking to bring in.

It’s also not like he was some scrub recruit coming out of HS like some people talk about him making it sound like he was. If I am remembering rightly he broke Trevor Lawerence’s hs passing TDs record in Georgia.

He is also a guy who has done something that seems to be extremely rare around the country these days. Show immense growth in his game every new season he gets more experience.

In the game he had to come in against Texas he wasn’t very good but used his natural talent to will us to the win and an SEC championship. Then against ND they absolutely lit him up with blitz after blitz after blitz’s and the game was still too fast for him at the point imo. He played admirably and as well as could be expected but just wasn’t ready to meet the moment.

Last season he was a very clearly improved QB over the one the year prior and was actually OUTSTANDING when throwing against the blitz. Showed he can be very clutch in games against Tennessee and Ole Miss where the offense had to go score for score with them until the 4th. In the playoffs he played well until it seemed like we totally shut the offense down with a lead which is never a good idea just like playing prevent defense is rarely a good idea and we lost in a classic. His biggest flaw last year was his ability to layer the ball in intermediate throws over Lbs or safety’s playing robber or in cover 2.

This season he has been, without exaggeration, the best QB in the country, and while having an extremely talented cast around him outside of Lucky, London, and the RB he was working with very very talented other skill guys but ones with minimal to no experience in SEC play yet. Thanks to his play it’s my opinion he has elevated everyone else in the offense allowing for guys like Taylor, Dandridge, Reddel, and others to emerge as legitimate weapons while getting their feet under them early.

What is most impressive is where I said he was bad last year he has totally flipped the script and become EXCELLENT at layered throws into intermediate passes in all areas of the field. The middle of the field or the seam, WR running deep outs or corners, he is delivering the ball with the perfect amount of touch to get it over the defense and into his guys hands.

Finally he is clearly in complete and total control of this offense and his years of experience in the system is paying off bigly. You can see him on nearly every play identifying the defense pre snap, changing or sliding the protection, and since he is so good at indentifying what the defense is running pre snap he almost always know where is going to be going with the ball before it is even snapped. Examples of this last game are Reddels big play up the seam, and Londons TD up the seam when we were running 4 verts and he identified bama was playing cover 3 and Humphries route would be the one in the vacated zone before the snap even comes. Even when he needs to go through his progressions he processes wayyyyy faster than his contemporaries like Arch.

The pass to ice the game where we came out in 13 personal (which is just an insanely awesome thing to do Bobo) Williams is actually his 3rd read on the play. With the 1st read running a 5 yard dig and the second read being the other TE running a 10 yard option route behind the dig. Williams running a deep corner course is the final read in the progression and gunner gets to him and makes the decision before Williams has even reached the top of his route.

He is so good

Gunner was still a 5 star when he committed. I remember reading a few Georgia boards and not being able to remember another time when the fanbase was less excited and more lukewarm about signing a five star. "We already have Vandergriff and J.T. Daniels, what's the point" was the thought process.

The Gunner doubting started on day 1.

He was a 5 early at 1-2 sites but the main ones had him at a 4. Even still he got little respect while Eor was leading the Dawgs.
