There's no logical reason to rank OU higher other than the fact that you think they're a better team. I, personally, would concede that OU is the better team. I also think OU has a better shot at winning it all. While Bama's wins are more impressive, the above factors would lead to me putting OU ahead of Bama.

Same thing that was said about USC before gravity struck. Just sayin...

Bamma deserves number 1 or 2 but I can't watch every game like the tOSU guy so I can't make that statement.

OU a better team...why? If they beat Texas in two weeks, then I will concede they are deserving on the No. 1 ranking...but, after 5 games, no team has a better body of work than Bama.

nitpicking...they more than tripled Tulane's score...when I last checked, that was a more important stat.

Average special teams by Tulane and they win that game 12-7(no return, no block and the make the two missed field goals)

They won, but impressively? You can't just discard that game from thier overall body of work. Would Oklahoma struggle offensively against Tulane? You can't aruge one game makes them clearly better while completely ignoring another one game.

OU a better team...why?

Because they have better players who are seasoned. I basically use three things when determining how teams should be ranked:

1. How they've played so far.
2. How good I actually believe they are.
3. How their schedule and injuries set up.

So OU has played better, but Bama has played much better competition. You have to give the edge to Bama due to their wins over Clemson, Arkansas, and UGA. Now, I actually believe OU is the better team because history tells me that they dominate in the regular season. Looking at them, they're balanced. Bradford is also 10x the QB JPW is, and OU's defense is a more veteran group. No major injuries aside from Granger for OU I believe. Also, Bama has a tougher schedule with younger players than OU, so OU's chances of running the table are more likely IMO (this doesn't play that big of a role to me though).

The main way I'd rank these teams is if they went head to head right now, who'd win? I don't think Bama could beat OU.

Clemson is 2-2 agaisnt the FBS heading to Wake where they'll likely fall to 2-3. They lost to Maryland who lost to MTSU... They lost to a team that lost to the sun belt... not a quality win right now.

Arkansas? Really TCU and Cincy would crush arkansas. They are bad, very, very bad.

UGA... hey a nice win.

So you have one good win and one nice one, against two nice ones (Cincy and TCU are 3-1 and 4-1)

How many people think Bama beats OU on a neutral field if they played Saturday?

Especially for a meaningless poll. If I was an AP voter, not nearly as much.

Think of it this way though, would you want to rank BYU this year(assuming they go undefeated) over LSU 2006 (who had 2 losses)?

Sure BYU won their games, but who did they play in relation to LSU? Look at the players on both teams, and can you honestly say that BYU deserves the nod over LSU? Watching Hawaii get raped last year makes me hesitant to just go off wins and losses, though Boise two years ago still would make me give it a lot of though.

Yes, because OU plays so great in big games at neutral fields...I would take Bama over OU...

In big games on a neutral field (Clemson) and on the road (UGA), Bama shows up big time

OU hasn't had a big game anywhere yet, so we'll see...

Georgia, Auburn and Fla are overrated. The SEC has 2 teams that stand above the rest..LSU and Alabama

You're really going out on a limb with that claim...

Show me anything Okalahoma has done that looks that ugly? It's early, but the #1 team in the country shouldn't get almost doubled up in yardage to Tulane.

My sentiments exactly

When I made my own top 5 this year, I had OU at #1.

Now, if I thought that OU was the #1 team in the nation before this season started, please tell me 1 thing that OU has done to make me think otherwise????

It's the same argument that USC would have, had they beat Oregon St. Just because they played 1 "tough" Ohio St team, and then ran through a completely easy schedule doesnt mean every other undefeated team deserves #1 over them. If they were to be impressive in every win, all double digits and most blow outs, it makes complete sense to still think that USC would be better then those teams.

LSU and bama are the best in the SEC. However Alabama is not the best team in the country by a long shot. It is nevertheless hard to argue against the calibre of their wins.

This is wrong. One of the main flaws in voting is this very thing. With your logic you will put USC #1 because they have a patsy schedule and should go unbeaten while placing LSU #5 because they have a monster schedule and can't possibly go unbeaten. Then in the end when they both go undeafeated you have USC #1, when by your own admission they have the weaker schedule. Of course now you will say that if that happened you would have LSU JUMP them in the end..... That logic doesn't belong in voting.

Holy shite I'm glad your voting doesn't have anything to do with the BCS. History? You have got to be kidding me. History tells me that Alabama has more championships than OU.

Body of work, that's how voting should be done when ranking comparable teams. And look at some of the things you made me say, defending Alabama using history and their past championships. Now I have to go brush my teeth and wash my hands. Thanks alot.

Okalahoma has blown out two one loss teams. Haven't had a scare yet.

Bama had a scare against Tulane (2-2) and the Clemson team they get so much credit for looks to be off to a 3-3, 2-3 vs FBS teams. (if they can beat Wake I'll give bama more credit for this one) And the Georgia team they beat fell from, 1 to 2 to 3 for a reason...

well im glad yall have beat all the powerhouses that yall have played including MSU!
