Here's a question for you. had Saban taken over Ole Miss in 2000 instead of LSU, would the rebels have had as much success as LSU these last 10 seasons?

Careful, if you say "no" then you completely refute everything you just said. If you say "yes" then you look like a complete moron.

I'll hang up and listen

Interesting. I wonder how much success he would have had with Eli as his QB?

Keep in mind he was very mediocre at Michigan State, a program of similar stature to Ole Miss

And during that decade, you played Ole Miss four times, in 1960, 1961, 1963, and 1969 (the Sugar Bowl at the end of that season).....and you lost all 4 times!

Ok, I'll keep that in mind.
Too bad I am not in back to the future so that I could try and change things

This isn't really targeted at you, I'm just pointing out all the fallacies in NJReb's logic

I understand that, just trying to picture what it would have been like if he had come here. It really is interesting.

Yes, I think so.

I think Nick could win a NC at pretty much any SEC school except Vanderbilt.....and lots of other schools in BCS conferences.....

It might take a little longer at some than at others, but I think he would still be able to get a lot of programs to that point in a reasonable amount of time.....

He wasn't at Michigan State long enough to really use that as a measuring stick.....

So you think he would pull in multiple top 5 recruiting classes at Ole Miss? Remember he wasn't NICK SABAN at this point, he was just some Big Ten coach with a plan. And you wonder why I call you delusional?

He was at Michigan State just as long as he was at LSU you dumb bastard!!!

Not trying to jump in on the argument, but he could get good classes at OM. Nutt has had top 20 classes and is considered by most as a guy who "can't recruit". Maybe it's just Arky fans who think that though

I edited my post above to say that it would take longer at some schools than at others, but the eventual result would be the same.

It would have taken longer at Michigan State, but I think he could have done it. Sure.....

Sure, he would have gotten good classes. Not saying he would have sucked or anything because i don't think that at all, but Ole Miss simply doesn't have the resources to consistently pull in top 5 classes on a consistent basis. Nick Saban or no Nick Saban. This is why he left Michigan State. He didn't just pull LSU out of a hat, he knew we had the potential to be an elite program and that potential was realized. Not trying to insult Ole Miss but yall simply don't have that potential.

He obviously disagreed with you because that's the exact reason he left there to come to LSU. He said, and I quote "I wanted to go somewhere that you could win it all."

Michigan State was hammered with NCAA sanctions when Saban took over the program. Also, the Big Ten was loaded in the 90s. Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin with Ron Dayne, Purdue with Drew Brees, etc... He was coaching the #2 team at a state that had pretty mediocre HS football talent. Despite all of those factors working against him, Saban never had a losing record there. He led them to their first new year's day bowl game in nearly 40 years. Saban did a great job at Michigan State.

True, we don't have the state to ourselves, but if Nutt can bring in good classes, Saban could have done a little better. He still wouldn't have won the NC here or anything though

But the vast majority of his losses do come from his time at Michigan State. As has been said, however, MSU was on major probation when he arrived from Toledo.

They didn't get hammered, they had a few scholarships taken away but nothing huge. No he didn't have a losing season, but he was 6-6 or 7-5 every year except his last.
