Offensive line was the only thing holding them back that year. Still, I thought this team was much more dominating in its victories than the previous year.

@Clemson- W 30-0
South Carolina- W 31-7
Alabama- W 37-23 (led 37-10 at halftime)
@Tennessee- W 41-14
Auburn- W 26-7
@Georgia Tech- W 34-17

Yeah the defense was stifling. I just think that 02 was better. Early in the season they just kept finding ways to win games, then later in the season they flipped the switch (like we did halfway through 07) where it didnt' matter who we played or what happened we were going to dominate.

2011 LSU
2004 Auburn
2009 Bama
2008 Florida
2003 LSU
2010 Auburn
2002 Georgia
2007 LSU
2006 Florida
2005 Georgia

2008 Florida would be number 1 if not for the Ole Miss loss.

Very true, they were a clutch team that could make plays with the game on the line. Sucks that we had to have the one fluky loss instead of Ohio State and Miami who also had countless close wins that year.

What exactly makes 05 Georgia 2 spots worse than 07 LSU? And don't say "they won a title", we're talking about which team was the best, not who had a better postseason. 05 Georgia's 2 losses were by 4 to florida without the SEC POTY (how many games would auburn have won in 10 without Cam?) and by 1 on a last second FG to auburn. I don't see how that team is considered worse than one who lost to kentucky and arkansas.

I can agree with that list. Maybe bump up 2010 AU a bit, just because of their ability to stay in games thanks to Cam.

ETA: Assuming we're talking about pre-BCSNCG 2011 LSU.

Nope. 2004 AU > UA 2009 > 2010 AU > 2011 LSU

bad kentucky team

Probably the best Kentucky team they've had in the last 10-15 years. That being said, the SEC champion should still never lose to Kentucky.

And both of LSU's losses were in triple OT. LSU played the entire first half of the season without the best offensive player and the entire 2nd half of the season without the best defensive player, and the starting QB was out for the SECCG but LSU still won it.

In fact there were only 2 games during the 2007 season where LSU was completely healthy, Virginia Tech, LSU won 48-7 and Ohio State LSU won 38-24

about it afterward.

I hear they had a pretty good Defensive Coordinator.

Lsu 2011 only loss to one of the best football teams ever i dont think there should ever be co national champs and am not taking anything away from bama but if we had a half decent game plan and put in the qb who deserved it we would be undefeated

Do not let the BCS Title game cloud the OP's original question. Two weeks ago, you'd have almost certainly had to say LSU, 2011. No other team out there had beaten that type opposition.

Regardless of what happened in the BCS game, name another team this year that won 13 games and can say they beat the SEC East Champion, the eventual Nat'l Champion, the Rose Bowl Champion, the Orange Bowl Champion, and the Cotton Bowl Champion, to name a few.

You can't.

We will hang the SEC West and SEC Championship banners, and wait patiently on this coming Fall...
