Every fan base has a lunatic fringe, yes. Being from a state that was barefoot well into the 50s, Alabama, as a state, is dirt poor but proud. We don't want help from anybody. And when football became a source of pride for Alabama with Coach Bryant, the Alabama football program became a shield of pride for the state's residents whether or not they attended the University. Had AU had the dominant run in the 60s-70s, we'd be able to say the dumbest fan base is Auburn's.

When I think of Tennessee fans, I think of this couple. I remember noticing them during the SEC Championship game, and by the next morning they had been Photoshopped all over the world.
