Here's a statistic: Georgia has won 12 of the last 14 meetings against Tech.

Have you seen their schedule in 1990? Played lowly ranked Nebraska for crying out loud. No way they win the SEC that year.

And yet they still have a more recent NC than UGA, how bout that?

Ya I was there. I also witnessed your crap schedule in 1980. You beat a Notre Dame team in the Sugar Bowl that was tied 3-3 near the end of the season by a Georgia Tech team that lost 9 games that year. In 1980 you beat 3 ranked teams the whole season with the highest being Notre Dame at #7. In 1990 we beat 4 ranked teams with the highest being #1 Virginia.

By the end of the season in 1990 there was not a team in the country that could play with us IMO except Miami. Nebraska played both Tech and Colorado and Tom Osborne stated that Tech was the best team they played all year and he backed it up by voting us #1 in the coaches poll over his own conference member Colorado.

Tech didn't leave because of Bama, Tech left because you couldn't compete in the SEC. In case you didn't know the Tech vs Bama game was the most heated rivalry in the South.

but to suggest they are superior athletically to UGA is absurd.

Defiant even in the face of cold hard facts. I like your style. On a related note, LSU is the academic flagship of the SEC.

Please, that 1990 team is the weakest team to win a natty in 50 years. The only team close is 84 BYU. As far as being the best at the end of the year Colorado, Washinton, FSU, and Miami would have beaten you at the end. And I just looked it up, you guys won by one friggin vote. Weak.

I'd be fine with Tech if we kicked out Missouri

The only way I would want Georgia Tech back in the SEC is if we could trade them for Missouri.

Short of that, I'd like to know if we could replace Missouri with Florida State, or Clemson, or Miami, or Central Florida, or Tulane, or Southern Mississippi, or Marshall, or College of Charleston, or Wofford, or Louisiana Tech, or Millsaps.

Or Samford, or South Florida, or Mercer, or Belmont, or Troy, or Louisiana Monroe, or Sewannee, or Davidson, or fricking Tougaloo.

Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

Millsaps and Tougaloo!

Hey the majors can at least claim that the Saints practiced there. Having a father that's a milsaps alum, I will say those "backyard brawl" games I went to seemed to have an iron bowl type rivalry feel to it (that's the football game against in-state rival Mississippi College btw)

Clearly Tech. They're superior in every way. Numbers don't lie.

We have zero interest in joining the SEC, but Clemson would crawl across a mile of glass to join. Give our spot to them.

Tom Osborne disagrees.

Tldr last 5 pages. So forgive me if anything here germans.

I grew up in Atlanta. The entire state of Georgia roots for Georgia.

Historically, GT has been a great team. The Heisman trophy is named after their head coach in the 1920s or 1930s. They were the first program to win all of the big 4 bowl games (sugar, rose, cotton, sun (now orange)) and they won the Natty in 1990 (or technically shared with Colorado).

I am a GT fan and I would love for GT to be in the SEC. but it would never happen. GT is about academics. They recruit mathletes. The culture is just not there at GT. I'd love to be wrong, but Tech fans just don't have the rabid, passionate fan base that you see in the SEC.

Tech fans, FWIW it's been a pretty good run. The 90s were awesome when the ACC was dominant and expanding with other power houses VT and Miami. But here and now it is all SEC.

For Tech to get better, they need to play in to what the football players want. They have top notch facilities, but kids want to play in bigger stadiums, in a non-gimmick offense, in front of passionate fans.

That "gimmick offense" ran rough shod over your little brother and went 2-0 vs. the SEC last year. The ACC has a more recent natty than the SEC. What's going to be awesome is when Tech sees more playoff games than UGAg in the next few years. Last year was just the beginning. What this team did last year with a 40-ish ranked set of recruiting classes does nothing if not show how a "gimmick offense" can overcome perceived talent gaps. In the next few years, if Tech can continue trending up in recruiting - even to a low 30s average ranking - this team will keep over achieving. It's proabably still too early to say things will be better, but it damn sure feels like it.

ACC!ACC!ACC!

Just doesn't have much of a ring to it. And I'm not sure you can get the Duke and Carolina fans on board with dickriding the crab thief.

Bro, who cares which conference last won a natty. Have you been living under a rock for the last decade when the SEC won 7 natty back to back to back to back to back to back to back??

And in that time Tech went 2-8 v UGA?

To clarify Tech went 2-0 against a UGA team that lost to Florida and particular the run game at Florida (notice a pattern of UGA run defense against a gimmick run game)

And they beat a MSU team that was beat up from a grueling SEC season.

So what you're saying is our gimmick offense works and we can beat up the beaten up.
