I'd rather just hijack a topic here and debate politics. The politards will get in the way otherwise.

The poliboard is the Tiger Rant. Cons are LSU fans and Libs are Bammers.

It proves that Auburn is more expensive, and probably nicer.
The size of Baton Rouge throws that off kilter, a bit though.
However, Katrina artificially inflated the number to begin with, because a ton of new houses had to be built.

Outside of the city limits though for the most part. The boom in Ascension and Livingston again to prove that point. City size skews the results of that too much. Compare Memphis city values to Oxford city values and I'm betting Oxford wins. Are you saying Oxford is a nicer and cooler town than Memphis?

I'm not even sure what I am to be honest. I'd say I tend liberal, but it's more at disgust of the right. Jersey Tiger's last four threads have been fantastic if you want a little insight into my views. I wish I was as smart as that bastard, or at least could make a point that cleanly.

I'm so left on issue like that your head would explode. The other issues are harder for me to peg down if I'm "right" or "left"

That's probably because it shouldn't be.

I lived in NOLA and BTR until 1992. Been to Auburn, Birmingham, Tuscaloser, Columbia, Fayetteviile, Knoxville and Gainesville, all
at least 3 times since 1987.

My observation:

FWIW: Baton Rouge (specifically heading south past downtown) has improved dramatically in the last 15 years.

Baton Rouge is the capital city and the second largest city of Louisiana. It is located in East Baton Rouge Parish which contains 428,000 residents. The Greater Baton Rouge population is approximately 774,327.

Baton Rouge is located in the southeast portion of the state along the Mississippi River. It owes its location and its historical importance to its site upon Istrouma Bluff, the first bluff upriver from the Mississippi delta, which protects the city’s 227,017 residents from flooding and other natural disasters. In addition to the natural protection, the city sports a levee system stretching from the bluff southward to protect the riverfront and the southern agricultural areas.

Baton Rouge is a major industrial, petrochemical, and port center of the American South. The Port of Baton Rouge is the ninth largest in the United States in terms of weight.[1]

The Baton Rouge region tontinues to grow, and a building boom that began in the 1990s continues today, with multi million dollar projects for quality of life improvements and new construction happening all over the city. In the 2000s, Baton Rouge has proven to be one of the fastest growing cities in the South in terms of technology.

Metropolitan Baton Rouge is one of the more faster growing metropolitan areas in the U.S. (under 1 million), with 600,000 in 2000 and an estimate of 770,000 in 2008 post Katrina growth, and a target growth of 800,000 by 2010.

The median income for a household in the city was $30,368, and the median income for a family was $40,266.

--------
I saw in another link the family income has grown to a little over 42K, but I can't find that right now.

Unlike certain deluded posters here, there's alot
more to offer in Baton Rouge than anywhere else in the SEC.

With the NOLA/French Quater being a little more than an hour away, there is no other locale that is better. And that includes Nashville.

Baton Rouge will continue to grow, and given it's proximity to New Orleans, still on eof the top 10 American tourist destinations in the US, is a great spot to live, and visit.

LSU is clearly the most desired spot on a any other teams calender in the SEC. OOC teams drool about it. The boys from VT still talk about it a year later and WVU fans can't wait. I was checking out of a damn hotel four weeks ago in Mogantown and a lady saw my hat and told me how she can't wait, and the damn game is 19 months from now.

Once again, it's yet another LSU advantage.

It certainly would. Open up that huge of a black market to the regular market. Too bad government would tax the balls off of it, but I'm really at the point I think that's ok. We're at a point we've got to raise taxes...and taxing something like pot is better than taxing everyone. Maybe it could help reduce the taxes we are going to have to add in the future.

Now if we could just get government to cut spending for 20 years while we do this...
