Is it the norm in BR and Tuscaloosa for white folks to send their kids to private schools?

Honest question. I had a conversation on a plane with a guy who had moved to DFW from BR.

It's alot smaller than Baton Rouge, but Baton rouge kinda sucks.

Yeah. I believe it is.
The good towns don't have segregation.

In BR it is either private schools or they go to the burbs. Ascension and Livingston have good schools.

That's part of the problem. What do you get when you mix poor white trash with science class? Crystal Meth. Maybe Jindal is on to something, get rid of science and Crystal Meth isn't a big problem.

I've never been to Baton Rouge, but I've heard it was ghetto too. Is this true?

Look up the prices for houses on the LSU lakes. East and South Lakeshore Drives, homes go for $800, 000 and up.

Sound ghetto to you?

My guess is that everyone in Baton Rouge would rather live in BR, and everyone in Auburn would rather live in Auburn, otherwise one would have to believe that they would be somewhere else.....just a thought.

There are 800,000 homes in every decent sized city.
Hell there's a bunch in Oxford.

Auburn is a really pretty town.
And people who live in 800,000 dollar homes are usually pricks. Not all the time, but most of the time.

I was replying to the poster who asked if the area around LSU is a ghetto. It's not.

The $800, 000 homes in question are just across the LSU lakes. It's a really nice area.

As opposed to say, the utter piece of crap neigborhood the University of Spoiled Children sits in. South Central Los Angeles is where the movie "Boyz in the Hood: was filmed.

You can send your kids to public school. You know everyone. The place is just plain prettier than Baton Rouge.

Cow pastures can indeed be pretty. And I'm sure cow tipping is da bomb when it comes to having fun!

I generally think that is a plus of a small town.
I grew up in Memphis.

I love the fact that I can go to Walmart and run into 8 or 9 people that I know. Occasionaly I see good Ole Huey doing his shopping.
Me and my friends followed him around chanting "Houston Nutt" while he does his shopping. That's the glory of a small town.
