1942 we were declared National champs by 8 polls.

What about before the AP even started? You know, before 1936? I guess cfb just didn't have national championships awarded it wasn't consensus then, and it's not now.

We also have a few more we can claim, if we counted anything like Bama. A very strong claim to 1946, if you ask me.

Claiming two is conservative.
