MSB board?

If you had “before the first playoff game is played” you win...

Four teams may not be enough for a college football playoff, according to ACC commissioner John Swofford.
Speaking at Wednesday’s weekly Durham Sports Club meeting at the Croasdaile Country Club, Swofford said an eight-team playoff, “in terms of the number of teams, would probably be ideal.”
This season marks the debut of a four-team College Football Playoff, replacing the BCS, which chose two teams for a national championship game.
“I don’t think all the controversy’s going to go away,” Swofford said of the new system. “You have four teams that get a chance to play for the national championship, which is twice as many as before, but whoever’s fifth or sixth is not going to be happy. There will be some conferences that won’t have a team in the playoff.”

ACC scared...

Nobody is going to say anything the 1st ten years or so. IIRC they made it pretty much impossible to expand it during the first 12 yr contract.

I think four is perfect. The scheduling sets up great with the semis being on New Years and the final being right around when it used to be. I also dont want football to turn into college basketball where you get the feeling the best team didn't win it all. Keep it at four

Playoffs suck
Period. Expanding them would totally ruin the sport.

Don't they have like a 15 year contract for the 4 team playoff?

8 teams with no auto bids would be perfect IMO.
Play opening round on NYE and NYD
Semi finals 7-10 days later (depending on the calender)
Championship on the Saturday on MLK weekend

Play opening round at Rose, Fiesta, Sugar and Orange
Semi-finals at Cotton and Peach
Bid out the location for the championship game

Destroy regular season and the bowl system. The two things that made College Football unique.

fricking awful idea. Almost as bad as going to this sham of a clusterfrick system we have now. Almost.

no it wouldn't. Plus the bowl system destroyed itself. I mean we have the Boca Bowl okay.

We'll just have to disagree then. I don't like it, but nobody asked me.

Without looking it up, name that last 10 winners of the Orange Bowl. Honestly how many can you name other than KU?

Hopefully, an eight-team playoff is in the near future. Auto-bids for the champions of the P5 conferences and three at-large bids for the best of the rest would be much more fair than the present beauty contest.

I agree, I don't like the idea of the playoffs. But they aren't going away.. Ever... So it needs to be 8 teams to make it right.
Every Big5 Champ gets in (assuming Big12 Expands) and then 3 At-Large teams.

8 "BCS" bowls, so they rotate championship games

freak the auto bids that is what killed the BCS. Just be the top 8 teams

Agree with eight teams. Four is not enough and anything above eight will ruin the regular season.

That could mean 4 or 5 SEC teams in the playoffs. Wouldn't wash with the other P5 conferences.

Let's assume the P5 teams are better than the other conferences. They deserve (demand) at least one playoff entrant. That would leave 3 at-large spots for the best of the non-P5 teams and/or the second best of the SEC or, possibly, other P5 conferences.
