Richt (losing to Central Florida and Boise) and Muschamp (escaped mental patient) have made a mockery of the two power East programs. Let's not get into Dooley.

Bama owns Georgia. Hell, even Auburn, LSU, and Florida State get quality players in GA. How long until these clowns are gone, and these programs lock down their states?

Exactly. The West was God awful until almost the mid 2000's.

Right. But busey, you make a strong point, inadvertently. Your avatar is Anthony Davis. A one and done basketball player. The Miss St. Grinders and Auburn are a way tougher outs than Vandy, UK, sadly UT, and now Mizzou. It would seem like the West could secede as a conference, add Ok. St and/or OU or whatever and lose nothing in football (the only sport that matters at all).

Florida needs to pull its weight. What they were thinking recruiting Brantley and hiring Weis and Muschamp I'll never know. I know that I like having UF as a permanent opponent for the next three years though.

Georgia should be solid next year. UF and UT will be decent in a year or two (if not then expect some changes to be made). Vandy and USCe are actually competing. UK is UK (generally average with the occasional good team and the occasional bad team).

I agree. And that is why it is so perplexing to me. Kentucky could be Arkansas easily with the right coach and with an emphasis on football. Basketball is for Northern Catholic schools like Georgetown, St. John's and UCONN (although not Catholic might as well be). Not many studs coming out of either state (Arky recruits Texas, KY needs to do work in Ohio and Georgia). They just need to realize basketball is for urban Northern cities, and football is the soul of Dixie.

Tennessee is so close to being dominant it's annoying. I realize Janzen, Bryce, and Kiffin destroyed the program for the next 3 years, but Dooley is not the guy to lead them back. I guess Dooley will make it a clean program and be fired soon, much like Shula did after Price at Bama. If Tenn hired Fedora, they'd be a 9-10 win team every year. They should lock down Memphis and Hampton Roads, and get some Florida speed, maybe be a factor north of ATL. It's maddening they let their athletic program fall to hell.

Georgia has more than double the high school talent of Louisiana, in terns of quantity, and they have Deep South good football genetics. UGA should recruit like Texas, lock up the top 20 in the state, and an occasional FL player, and be at an LSU/Bama level. Tech is a joke, UGA is basically unopposed in state. When they get a football coach instead of Joel Osteen they'll be a terror.

I don't really think Florida will ever really be good again. Tebow is so rare, and he was that University. Florida post-Tebow is like PSU post-Paterno. Jimbo is going to do big things in Tally, and Florida is full of Yankee transplants, so allegiances are transitory. It just seems like the three ringer coaches are all in the West (Miles, Petrino, and $aban), and it will take a lot to bring them back. Florida also has lost it's identity. It's about as Southern as Rutgers. I see them in a U-like twenty year slide into obsolescence. The sooner Boom is out the better.

I agree, but we're the second greatest basketball program of all time. The only other program in the SEC that has history and winning traditon that's even close to that of our basketball program is Bama football. I don't think most SEC fans even realize that. It would be completely and utterly stupid to neglect basketball in an effort to become better at football. I love football way more than basketball, and many things need to be done regarding our football program, but we are a basketball school, and the best one in the nation at that. We can have success in both.

And as far as recruiting GA, about 90% of our OOS kids come from there, and they take up about 50% of our roster total. Recruiting really isn't a problem. We have more talent than we've ever had. Our staff is just so inept that we might as well have a roster full of 1*.

No. We had good teams and tradition up till early 90's and then had two bad coaches then got nutted. Basically the same thing that is going on at UT right now. Kentucky hasn't ever done shite in football

We've done enough to have a winning record against y'all, though.

Yes, you have beat our arse a few times now. I was at the last one.

Kentucky would have to drastically change their outlook on football to compete yearly though. Our fans have always been football #1, we just sucked so bad in the 90's that everyone thought we loved basketball more

Awesome. Bear had some success at UK first. Improving Commonwealth should be high on the agenda. I don't know if a school can really do both though. On one hand you have basketball schools: UK, Vandy, Syracuse, UCONN, Memphis, Duke, Kansas, UNC. On the other are football schools: LSU, Bama, Auburn, USC.

The only schools that really have a balance are Oklahoma, Texas, Florida (kinda), Ohio St, Arky's middling at both. I love Calipari's style of play, but football is a program's cash cow. It's abundance and austerity with Cal and Joker. Even a Tuberville or Hoke would be a huge upgrade. Joker might be worse than Nutt. The administration needs to care, and it's not that far away, 2007 y'all schooled us. It's almost sad seeing how neglected football is. I hope in 2011 you can fire Joker and not run into any nonsense like in the Croom situation. Charlie Strong would be a home run hire.

I'm not really sure what your point is. Yes, things need to be done (start with firing Joker, which will happen next year) with the football program (a long list of things), but not ever at the expense of basketball. That's just ridiculous to even think it is an option. And like I said, I like football way more than basketball, but no way in hell.

And football isn't that neglected. Right now our main issues are with the staff. Other than that, things are better than they ever have been, facilities, recruiting, etc. But yea, it's always a work in progress, just like it is anywhere.
