UT is down and out. We talk about the LSU game year round. Saban and Miles are 3-3 against each other. The teams are mirror images of each other. This game has championship implications. Both fan bases alway go at it. Game is circed year round.
Why not admit that LSU is our number two rival?

it is a recent rivalry.
LSU and Bama have rarely both been good in the past and i don't think there has ever been a long stretch where both were so goog for so long.

It's a big game with big implications. There's not mutual hatred. When either Bama/LSU inevitably becomes mediocre, it will become just another game on the schedule.
This is not true with Auburn or UT

Because they think it hurts our feelings when they call us "just another team on the schedule" and not our rival.
Everyone knows that the TSIO is the GOAT when it comes to rivalries. My eyes were glued to television set during the clash of those 2 colossal SEC giants.
And plus now we have A&M anyways.

quote:Right, because when one team sucks and the other one's good, rivals cease to be rivals. This explains why USC and UCLA don't even play each other anymore. And rivalries are only based on which two teams happen to be good at the same time. This explains why USC considers Oregon their biggest rival, and not UCLA. You know so much about rivalries. Please tell me more.

I'm not denying it's a rivalry but it's comical how Bama fans think LSU fans are offended when they don't consider us a rival. They talk about LSU so much more than Tennessee (especially on here), you'd think LSU was their #2 rivalry.
But no worries, I'm sure Tennessee will be better next year and the game will be much closer.

Take me, for example. I never even remotely considered LSU a rival until I joined this site a year ago. It was a big game, sure, but so was Florida for several years. Now I'm LSUsessed.

Anyone who considers LSU-Bama a rivalry is just young. nothing bad wrong with it, just the way it is. it is only recntly that the series has been split. bama has dominated the "rivalry" since the beginning of time till about 15 years ago.

I understand Auburn, but why is UT still a rivalry if that's the case. Thought the origin of the rivalry was more to the fact that yall were both the power houses of the conference.

So you mean we're really not one of the worst teams in the nation??? YAY....
Yes we are... :(

LSU is our number 1 rival right now. Why claim anything else? This game is just like Florida and Tennessee used to be.
I certainly hate auburn more and would hate to lose to them, and likewise the viles, but LSU is now our biggest game of the season, and was last year, and likely will be next year. That makes them our current rivals.

In the 90's and even here in the last few years we have had to face good Florida teams. They were never our rival. Why not? Answer that and you have your answer regarding LSU.

For the same reason UF didn't suddenly become a rival during 08/09.
