I just wanted to drop in this thread to say there is no such thing as an aggy joke, only real life aggy stories

Why are the aggy bands uniforms made out of polyester?
Because there's no virgin wool within 100 miles of college station

For some reason I like that haiku, even if it doesn't follow haiku rules.

I mean, outside of determining National Champs by completely objective rules, which is done at almost every level of sports, the NCAA does use selection committees for some things. But human beings are biased, but their ability to be biased can be mitigated to a very reasonable level. In the NCAA bball tourney, I don't believe a champion has ever predicated on the fashion of both a single regular season game, and the final. If LSU has blown out Alabama in Tuscaloosa, or lost by 3 and missed 6 or more field goals in January, the National Champ wouldn't be so clear, and most likely wouldn't be Alabama, even with identical outcomes in the win and loss column. Even in other sports with subjective outcomes, a champion couldn't be so arbitrarily determined with the Win/Lose column staying unchanged. And yes. 4 teams is definitely less subjective than a 2 team playoff. The more opportunity you have for objective results to outweigh subjective decisions, you are crowning a more legitimate champion. You really think this isn't an intelligent conversation or counterpoint to the champion crowning process? Seriously? The college football postseason has done exactly what I am voicing my concern over; mitigated subjective opinions by letting them be either confirmed or denied by subjective results.
- Naming champs after bowl season? Check.
- Varying polls to eliminate regional bias? Check.
- Using a formula to determine ranks? Check.
- Forcing number 1 to play number 2? Check.
- Eliminating margin of victory from computer rankings?
- Expanding the Championship process to 4 teams? Check.
Literally every step forward is about making it more objective. Is it 100% objective? No, but 100% objectivity, or near 100% objectivity exists in almost every level of every sport. Even wildcards are determined objectively. And at what point does a tournament with every single team create objectivity? Pool play, round robins, wildcards playoffs, etc are all objective ways of determining a champ even without including every single team. An element of subjectivity is entered when we as humans determine tiebreakers, but a lot of times, that subjective element becomes moot, or is substantially mitigated by objective factors.

No, they played in BR about 3 times for every 1 time we went to Kyle field, and we fulfilled the final year of the contract by giving them a game with my alma mater, UL-Lafayette. eATMe allowed more points to UL-L in that one game than LSU has in the entire series.

And LSU, with two losses, controlled their destiny. How many other teams with two losses controlled their own destiny?
How many other teams with two losses even made it to the game?

You fulfilled the ten year contract by ending it 4 years early with a single game against a team we never agreed qualified for an appropriate replacement that literally had nothing to do with you, but was the only thing available when you backed out so late?
The only thing that made sense in what you just said was that you went to ULL... Because you are tripletarded.

It ends the very day the REC goes bankrupt.

Basically since the national championship has been decided by polls, people, and computers every year in the history of NCF, then all titles prior to the National Championship Series are hereby invalidated. Might as well cancel next season, as I believe it too will be under BCS rules.

"Controlling your own destiny" isn't currently possible in college football. Undefeated teams haven't won National Championships, or even played for them. Controlling your own destiny is only possible in every other sport at every level.

Lost in this argument is the stated goal of the BCS: matching up the best two teams to play for the title. It has had nothing to do implicitly with wins and losses, division titles, or conference titles.
Are people disputing the best two teams weren't in the game? And if LSU wasn't #2, then who was?
