First of all, let me state that Deion has moved to the top of my new Auburn head coach wish list.
More to the point, jang, you've got direct messages (trade proposals) waiting for you on Sleeper. Since you seem to check here more than there. . .

I'm sorry to pull a random post from 7 months ago, but I'm trying to get in touch with you to get you to check your trade offers on Sleeper fantasy football, and I can't figure any other way to get in touch with you...

 I'm sorry that I think more than one fragment at a time. I'll try to keep in mind that no one else here has such capacity from now on.

After the 2010 season I was convinced that out of all our guys, Hamilton was the most talented. He's just built like a prototypical NFL wideout and most publications I've read have this same feeling as well.
Problem is that I've heard this story far too many times when it just didn't pan out. If he were truly a better player, one would think he would have been starting. I mean, was he hurt or something last year?
Now, there IS precedent for this sort of thing. Back in 1987, the Oklahoma assistant coaches came to Barry Switzer with all these grand plans of how to take Oklahoma State star running back Thurmon Thomas out of the game. Switzer said no, they didn't want to do that, because Thomas' backup was better than he was.
1988 proved him right, as Barry Sanders set an NCAA record for total yards that I believe stands to this day en route to the Heisman.
Still, that's the exception, not the rule, and generally speaking if a player isn't starting, there's a reason why. Time will tell if Hamilton breaks out and has a great season, and maybe he will. Maybe the others leaving will make something in his head click and he'll become the go to guy, I sure as hell don't know. I just question the whole backup being more talented than the starter, especially after hearing that shite about Neiko Thorpe being better than Jerraud (sp?) Powers...

While I don't disagree with you, Saban does play the game. He signed Corey Grant out of Auburn's back yard with no intention of letting him play offense, rather intending to put him at DB and if he didn't do well, he'd process him out. Hell, look what happened to Petey Smith. Both of those guys were recruited to Bama to send the message that Little Nicky could get whomever he damn well pleased.
The fact that Chizik, a coach who is given virtually no credit by anyone outside of Auburn, has done as well in recruiting despite Saban's best efforts has to chap his arse at least a little. Especially now that CGC has flipped the script and taken Bama's top rated prospect away less than a year after Bama took Auburn's top rated prospect away.

It did at SMU. What makes you think it still doesn't occur?
Because it has to happen too much on the down low to be outright bidding. I've heard plenty of stories about how coaches get around the rules though...no idea how true this is, but one of the things I heard was that Julio Jones was roommates with a walkon who also happened to be the son of a prominent booster. When Julio wanted cash, said son of booster would give him the debit card daddy set up for this, Julio would go withdraw cash, then do whatever he wanted to with it. The way it was related to me was that because it came from a teammate and fellow student, it's perfectly within NCAA guidelines...but I have no clue how true that is, either being within the guidelines or if it even happened.
However, that's just an example. I'm sure that everyone skirts the rules with such tricks. That was Bear Bryant's greatest strength, IMO. I know I'm in the minority of Auburn fans, but I don't believe he ever actually cheated, I just think he exploited every loophole there was to be found. Way I heard it from one old school fan was that he taught the NCAA how to cheat, because he was always one step ahead of them, but by the time other coaches caught up, the rules had been changed and the other school would get punished.

Gary Patterson.

Then why didn't he start? Or did he start and I just don't remember it?

Hey, Wilson is a great QB, no question. No idea how good the receivers are now; do you guys think they're going to be somewhere close to as good as the guys who left? Also, how's your line looking? I ask only because I honestly don't know..

Davis is back and ready; it should be a good contest come Thanksgiving.
So what you're saying is that not only will Davis be as good as he was before the injury, but he also will not suffer from the loss of all those big wide receivers (which hampers the passing game and allows the defense to load up the box more), the loss of the coach who made the offense tick, or the turmoil surrounding that coach's departure.

MSU... Top 50 football program or not..
Well, yeah, I'd say that they are top 50 currently. I don't think there are 50 other teams in the country who could consistently beat State.
Better question: Is MSU currently in the top eight of the SEC or not?

He keeps reiterating "I gotta do what's best for my family" .Theres rumblings Oxford offered incentives as well .
So, by that logic, you're admitting that TJ Yeldon saying he had to do what was best for his family was an indicator that extra benefits were involved?

Wow, that's pretty funny, actually. Hate that he's wheelchair bound and all, but he not being able to walk shouldn't affect one's mental capacity...

I actually think there's a fair shot of that happening in 2013. That would be completely fricking EPIC!

No doubt...though I do feel it necessary to point out that it's not just recruiting and it's not just the universities, because the fans go at each other 24/7/365. With each of the last three crystal trophies residing in this state and Auburn at least seemingly on the verge of stepping back up to a level not seen on the Plains since the 80s, it looks like things are about to get real. As in the Iron Bowl being the deciding match for the SEC West more often than not, just as it should be.

 No worries. I am too. That's the reason I came over to TD: it's July, there's not a lot to talk about, and Auburn just flipped Alabama's highest rated recruit (though admittedly Bama is FAR from hurting at linebacker), so I kinda wanted to see what the Bama fans had been saying about it.

Man, for someone criticizing me about worn out comebacks, you sure don't seem to bring anything to the table.

Am I getting you that much already? Maybe don't stay on a thread about an Auburn commit and you won't have to worry about it?
