since no one answered the question
for a number of years, lsu had to petition the visiting team to wear white at home. one year, spurrier said f that and fla wore white. instead of wearing purple jerseys, dinardo opted for yellow. unfortunately, the numbers were white and were hard to see. also, notice no shoulder stripes, a distinguishing feature of lsu's jerseys.
vandy then pulled a spurrier later (since they felt jilted by dinardo) and lsu wore yellow again except with purple numbers.
unrelated, lsu broke out the mustard colored jerseys a few years ago.
