Oxford has an indoor go-karts, bowling, laser tag, putt-putt and Dave and Buster's type of games all at the same place.

Birmingham is a cool little city.
I like how the last time Auburn played in the Birmingham bowl, Charles Barkley (who resides in B'ham) said he was going to rent a hotel room so it felt like a road game.

Well, they had three homicides on Saturday, so maybe the visitors will see some excitement. Remember to duck.

They should take the teams to the 230,000 square foot Barber Motorsports Museum and racetrack. It is the home to the Porsche Driving school as well as the largest motorcycle museum in the US with over 1600 bikes. The track is referred to as "The Augusta of Race Courses". The museum also has a large collection of Lotus race cars and other classic sports cars. There is always some event or the Porsche driving school going on. You can walk out over the track from the museum. Really a cool place to go even if you aren't necessarily a motorcycle fan.
Barber is a beautiful place, can't wait to get back there.

Well obviously you don’t want to make a vacation of it but an overnight trip to Bham can be a good time. There’s plenty of bars and good restaurants to fill up a day.

Saw's BBQ in Avondale should be on the list, for sure.
This, then hit the brewery after. They do a good job with football games.

I hope that the Auburn and Houston fans can make the most of their visit.
Looking forward to this like an colonoscopy. Thank goodness for Bruce Pearl.

What do people do at other bowl games besides go eat and drink at a bar. Same shite everywhere unless you're near a beach.

Saturn, one of the coolest music venues in the entire region (I've been to many) is across from Saw's if anyone wants to see a live show. Many of the breweries like Ghost Train usually offer live music, as well.

Ghost Train is about to move to a building of 1st Avenue near Avondale. They're going to have a music venue as well.

Just got done editing my above post then saw this. Glad to hear they're moving away from that random spot.

Can't remember the name but there is a really good Italian joint there. Someone may know what it is, but that would be a definite stop if I was in town.

I’ve lived here for years and the only time I’ve ever seen a heavy police presence they were filming a movie downtown

My guess is most Bama Fans do not realize the reputation Birmingham has for great restaurants. Most never eat outside of the Olive Garden.
The reputation is actually pretty good. For example, the Highlands Bar and Grill won the James Beard Foundation most outstanding restaurant in the US just a few years ago. After watching the True South episode on Birmingham, I tried The Bright Star when I was there earlier this year. I'll try the other restaurant featured on the show, Johnny's, the next time I am in town.

There's a Buc-ee's in Jasper, not too far from Birmingham. Bout it.
