It's like if Georgia Southern got to start playing in the SEC. A lot of people go there if they can't get into A&M and Texas, and it's in Lubbock.

Yup. The former head of the A&M system is somewhere in the middle of that chaos. Tech fans are also famous for ripping up the bleachers in their student section, passing them up to the top of the stadium, and throwing them over the edge.
The first Texas Tech/West Virginia game will truly be a sight to behold

Texas is just SO spread out. You can drive 5 hours from Lubbock and still be in the middle of nowhere.

Oh Statesboro. Just going there makes you feel like you fricked a hooker in a pay by the hour motel.

They are in the middle of nowhere and it is 6 to Dallas, and you can't really go any other direction. Maybe they are like 4 hours to Albuquerque, or maybe El Paso? It sounds terrible, I have never understood the appeal. I would make my kids go to community college before I would let them go to Texas Tech.

I knew a guy who didn't get into Texas or A&M, but he wanted a Big 12 experience. Went to Lubbock, hated it, and so he ended up settling on Arkansas because it was less remote.

If it is as much like Georgia Southern as it sounds like, the appeal is an easy arse school that you can go dick around at for 5 or 6 years while doing a lot of drugs and having lots of unprotected sex with disease ridden gutter sluts.

Cowboys already know how to wrangle the cows...the girls will swoon.

You can do that at Texas State and not be stuck in a desert or so far away from civilization, but yes, you're right, that is the appeal.

This is a pretty apt description. Probably the only difference (from what it sounds like) is that Tech has major conference athletics

frick A&M
Mizzou, you're cool
They will both miss having a legitimate shot at going to their conference championship game. A&M will miss the in state and Oklahoma games.

No one will miss Waco, Lubbock, or Stillwater. Norman isn't really a cool place either. It isn't bad, but it isn't great, and not really noteworthy.

My friend who dated a guy in school at Tech would literally drive every weekend because her boyfriend was too busy to leave. She'd get there after the 7 hour drive, and they'd sit around and drink beer, play video games with his same 4 friends, and BBQ EVERY single night of EVERY single weekend. She was in Austin, and when she asked him to go there, he said he couldn't miss class and that he couldn't sleep in a bed he wasn't used to. THe only times she didn't go was when he went hunting. He shot a coyote and wanted to stuff it for his living room.
She'd gone to Tech undergrad and that's all she knew.

I will miss all our old Big 8 brothers and sisters. I wish them well as we all start to move on down different paths. (Except kansas, they can burn in a dumpster)
The day that the Big 8 let Texas in the conference is the day the clock started ticking for those Big 8 schools with options being a part of that charade.
