Reading this BS made me want to give up my season tickets. It's just a shame what it's become...with slimeball agents jacking up the asking prices, as usual. 100 years of the greatest sport...only to implode, eventually, because of greed from every level...admins...coaches...players...tv execs...agents. Always said players should get a % of the profit their sport generates, held in trust until they left school...this article just drives home how insane it's become very, very quickly. Better do something before it becomes too ingrained to fix.

The genie will never fully go back in the bottle now...thanks to the insanity pushed on society in general circa 2020 that had a negative ripple effect everywhere..but we could definitely improve what we're currently seeing...which isn't sustainable, but no one "in it" now gives a crap as long as they "get theirs."

I don't see how you can possibly reign in the money aspect, but at the VERY LEAST they need to end the fricking portal. Just go back to how it used to be back in the day; if you want ot transfer you can but you're also going to sit out a year. I think honestly that would solve more problems than the money would. The only reason the money shite is out of control is beucase kids jsut have a hand out every offseason to start the bidding wars all over again. If they couldn't transfer, that wouldn't happen.

I agree with that. The most achievable fix would involve the portal and transfer eligibility. That would certainly help reign in the insane bidding wars...of course, it would probably just shift more money back to high school recruits...which is even dumber than paying transfer portal players.

No one denies that athletes deserve a share of the enormous revenues they help generate, or that talent redistribution has produced more parity (which has arguably resulted in a worse product on the field).
The critique is that the current high-cost, largely unregulated, pay-for-play version of NIL has delivered those benefits at the cost of educational priority, competitive integrity in the traditional sense, and the distinctive character of college football.
