The link talks about alums, so I assume they are not counting people who were students at a school but did not graduate? That knocks out a lot of former students who would remain fans of the school.

We talking the Rant or in general? Almost every Auburn fan I personally know spent at least some time at Auburn, but that's because I met them all there and didn't know any before.
Correct. You use anecdotal evidence to draw a conclusion. My social/professional circle is 95% college grad. The state of Alabama is only 32% graduated college.

An alum, to alumni associations, are people that attended the college not specifically graduates.

I've seen some Facebook groups that would very much prove the point that all Auburn fans are not alumni nor was anybody in their gene pool.

UK has 277,838 living alumni. Population of Kentucky is 4.45 million. Probably 5-10% alumni are in the fanbase, same as everyone else

Don't know, but it's a hell of a lot more than for Alabama.

Probably pretty low for your big name football schools.
I also imagine there's a pretty high negative correlation with football success and percentage of alumni in that school's overall fan base. (i.e., everyone loves a winner)

Completely anecdotal, but my experience living in Mississippi but being an LSU grad, the vast majority of LSU fans I meet in professional settings in MS actually attended LSU.
The vast majority of professionals I meet that are Bama fans did not attend Bama. As a matter of fact, several attended other SEC schools.
Again, anecdotal to my experience, the non-Bama grad Tide fans also seem to be fans of the Yankees, Red Sox, Patriots, Warriors, etc.
I actually don’t have a problem with front-runners as long as they are honest about being front-runners.

Do the non-educated folks in MS all pull for Ole Miss?
Yup. Ole Miss was good at football during the integration era and made a massive push against segregation (they had to bring in the National Guard). Thus, old rednecks loved them. Those old rednecks pass down the love for "their school" to their children and them to their children, etc. So you have a bunch of uneducated white trash hicks that absolutely love Ole Miss due to the perception of what they think it stands for.

Most of our fans either went to State or their kid is first generation college student so their parents pull for state.
Aggies aren't allowed to be in this conversation because they are a Cult doing business as a University.

I'm not counted as part of Kentucky's population
Wish there was a national way of examining

Actually its not. Bama and Auburn have roughly the same number of living alumni (though Bama is increasing at a higher rate). By percentage its probably a three to four point difference.

Completely false. You also have one of the smallest alumni bases in the SEC

There are far more fans than alumni in every fan base. The better or more popular the team, the more sidewalk fans there are as a percentage of the fan base.

This actually shows percentages for each of the power 5 schools. Interestingly, UGA has a lower percent (7%) than Bama (8%). Aggies win with the highest percentage of 57%. AU is doing pretty well at 20%.
There is absolutely no way to even calculate this accurately. It's a bullshite statistic.
